I start with the cards and live them, but at one point I feel like they are slowing me down. I start adding dialogue and action descriptions to the cards and I feel like it makes no sense. I have the script for that. But the cards do help me with structure

Hey there, #writers who “index card before writing the script”: when do you feel it’s time to move from the cards to the actual file? Do you wait until all your idea is in the cards? Is the structure enough for you? Do you follow Lynch’s rule of 70 cards = a feature?

4. … let’s say he “died” January 2021: Trump administration was practically over. But now Inauguration Day is about to happen (or happened already) for the new Trump administration.
There is too much to handle. The guy wants justice (The Avengers are busy fighting the Endgame Battle, blablabla)

3. The Avengers brought everyone back!
So he then finds a lawyer and tries to actually sue the Avengers for bringing him back to the worst life he could imagine. He lost everything and everyone and didn’t approve his return.

2. He was killed by Thanos 4 years before and now he’s back. He realizes time has gone by. He runs home. Not his home anymore. He lost his job (of course), his best friend moved abroad, his girlfriend married someone else, all his life is completely ruined! He walks into a bar and learns the truth…

movie plot idea: a guy’s walking down the street on his way to propose to his girlfriend, but then he “wakes up” (on the same street). He is confused, people around him are a bit surprised, other people are also “waking up” or “reappearing”: they’ve just been “brought back to life” by the Avengers.

Quick question: i want to write a new pilot. Got the episode structure, character development, bits of dialogues, everything ready. So obviously the next step is to clean the entire house, cook dinner, do laundry and then regret it because now it’s time to pick up the kids from school. Right?

I created a story back in 2015. I wrote it down in 2020. Many rewrites later, I won a prize back in 2022. Today I went to the set where the pilot is being filmed. Don’t know what happens from here on, but it was fun to see my characters talking to each other. ❤️
