I like the idea because it would increase state revenue which could be used to build low-income housing, but more importantly it would discourage the investors who are currently driving up house prices to levels that no first-time buyers can reach.

And if an investment firm owns 100 homes? I think they would be pretty eager to sell them.

Here’s a proposal -

A property tax multiplier, which multiplies one’s property tax by the amount of homes you own.

So if you one one home your property taxes are unchanged. But if you own two homes your property tax is doubled for both homes, if you own three it’s tripled for all three, etc.
