Apple had a huge impact on my life. Switching to a Mac in 2002 is a big part of why I finished my computer science degree and stayed in IT. Mac OS X showed me that computers can be a joy to use and not just a tool.
Happy birthday, Apple 🥳
18 years feels a bit unreal. Hard to believe how much the Apple world has changed over that time — and that we still manage to fit right in. 🥰

We hope this helps users who need to open documents from Files/Finder. While storage is still managed by the app it should help some use cases. We decided on purpose to not support Quick Look for those files so users don’t mistake this for extranal documents.

If you purchased a one-time purchase for MindNode 5 (2017) or later, we still maintain this version and will also ship a basic Liquid Glass update for it next month. We really screwed up communication with our MindNode Next release.
I started working on MindNode 18 years ago. I started with paid upfront with upgrade pricing, but MindNode would no longer exist if we hadn’t switched to subscriptions 5 years ago. If you want to stay in business for so long, subscriptions are (“sadly”) the only working business model right now.
We are also shipping three features powered by on-device Apple Intelligence:
- AI Brainstorming Mode: Kick start a mind map with a prompt
- Summarize/Generate Text: generate an article based on the current document.
- Remove Image Background

Big news from Apple at yesterdays WWDC keynote! We're thrilled to optimize MindNode for the stunning new Liquid Glass UI. 👀✨
Even more exciting? You might’ve spotted our MindNode logo during the keynote — and it’s also featured in a screenshot on the macOS 26 product page (apple.com/os/macos/)!
We had amazing help from @matthewcassinelli.bsky.social on this. He created 33 sample shortcuts to show what is now possible. 🚀
And we finally have support for folder. Probably our most requested feature since we shipped MindNode Next. At the moment we have a flat folder hierarchy, but I guess we will get many requests for sub-folders.😀
