Respectful Open Source Maintainer attention as a finite resource.

This post about "Respectful Open Source" by @andrewnez.bsky.social inspired me to have Claude build forkwatch, a tool that analyzes forks of any repo and highlights where multiple forks converge on the same fix.

Securing My Home Network with AI How I turned home network security into a conversation with an AI agent, and ended up with a hardened NAS, documented infrastructure, and a self-improving project harness along the way.

Just posted about a fun weekend project to improve my home network security and the entire project was just me having a few conversations with AI agents. jonmagic.com/posts/securi...

I joined the No Kings protest in San Mateo California today and walked the two miles from Hillsdale Mall to Central Park with hundreds (maybe more). It was encouraging to see everyone with their signs, their voices, exercising their rights, and hear the cars honking their horns in solidarity.

Jimmy Kimmel Returns: ABC Ends Suspension Starting Tuesday Jimmy Kimmel will return to late night on Tuesday

"Tyranny requires constant effort. It breaks, it leaks. Authority is brittle. Oppression is the mask of fear. Remember that."

Looking forward to seeing Jimmy back on the air.

Reinstate Jimmy Kimmel and stop caving to authoritarian censorship! Kimmel wasn’t fired for his remarks on Kirk—he was fired for using his platform to expose and critique our government. Enough! We especially need large corporations, with the money and influence they ...

Context Rules Everything Around Me Capture once, reuse everywhere. I record meetings, auto-transcribe, then feed transcripts to AI prompts for summaries, action lists, and architecture drafts. Context Rules Everything Around Me.

I just finished rewriting a post I first published for coworkers inside GitHub a few months ago so that I could share it with you 😀 The past few years but especially the past few months I've transformed the way I work to leverage transcripts, prompts, and LLMs and I hope these tips can help you too!

Was going to do 5k, then 8k, and then pushed even harder to make it 10k because everything was running smoothly. Had no idea I was on track to PR but I did go all out last block just in case.

New 10k PR today! It’s been many months since my last PR. I think the combination of colder weather and sweatpants plus headphones were holding me back. Today I decided to switch to shorts and take out the headphones right before I left the house and it felt fantastic.

I’ve worked in this department for the past 8 years and have seen it expand from just 4 of us focused on spam and abuse to nearly 30 on all the areas I mentioned above.

I love to talk tech, running, and food and have mostly been over on Threads the past year but checking this community out next.
