Another amazing Jet2 holiday done.

Amazing service, good value, everything on time and staff amazing.

Again.

I think that's about 5 years in a row we've loved it.

I bet you’ll never see Leandro Trossard, Joe Lo Taglio and Clément Turpin (ref for Atleti v Barca) in the same room together.

I met our local Labour MP (who I voted for) the other week. I told him Labour is trying to 'answer the exam question correctly instead of trying to win the pitch' - basically they're doing stuff that is good on paper but people don't FEEL better off. That's a dangerous position to be in.

Yep. Because they are playing to people's feelings of desperation.

Those people don't believe the data they see that proves immigration is net beneficial. They see and feel more of 'the other' around them and populists play to that.

(Permit me a slight leap)

I think that's why populism is growing - they're tapping into how people feel, not what the data says.

They're focusing on the things in and around people they can see and feel - not ethereal intangible things like 'the economy' that feel like a distant construct.

Absolutely. Data can create averages - at societal level and specific demographic level too.

It's impossible to listen to every individual - but I think businesses just don't even try any more. It feels like it's too much effort to listen to real people's voices.

But ignore them at their peril!

It's the thing I wang on about loads. The graphs and charts can say whatever they want.

How people feel is what's important. How they feel dictates if they spend, where they spend, how they vote etc.

It's why it's so important to have the voices of real people AND data. You can't feel data.

That's good. I started my own business few yrs ago. Lots of pros and some cons. Constantly worried about money but on paper we're doing ok so I can't complain.

Let's try and do a coffee at some point. Would be nice to say hello. I visited Vietnam a few times - Hanoi and Hi Chi Minh - amazing.

We have a little saving fund to take Isla back to Singapore one day so she can see where she was born. She only remembers Hexham now. Arlo was born in the RVI and is a proper Geordie. Well proud of that.

I'm working harder than ever before with less disposable cash than ever before. Life is kinda the opposite to Singapore.

And the world is getting worse.

But I'm trying not to let that impact my life as much as possible. How can I complain? I'm trying to remember to appreciate the simple things.

The northerner in me (who spent 20 years living in London) mischievously says "sounds perfect for Islington..."

I really enjoyed that mate. And lovely to see some Hexham images in there.

We've been in Hexham 5.5 years now after 5.5 years in Singapore. It's home now but I'm still adjusting to it all.

Thanks for sharing.

I know it's de rigueur to slag off AI, but it helped my wife over the weekend when she was alone driving and the low oil light came on.

She used it and it told her what to do and reassured her to fix it and carry on.

I have mixed feelings about it overall, but it's not all bad.

I deleted insta at Christmas.

It was once a great feed of beautiful photography. Now it's just FB. And I deleted that 10 years ago. Mindless shite now.

I know we don't all get the same energy equally over a consistent period.

But I definitely feel like I'm in a lull mentally. Nothing bad - don't worry about me(!) - just struggling to wake up with a spring in my step at the moment.

Based on nothing - everything is great!

There's something really interesting coming out in our work about people feeling the need to "beat the system" when it comes to getting a deal. So vouchers, set meals, cashback etc. All help people feel they're getting maximum bang for their buck.

I use Pizza Express as the barometer of price and quality. It's always a good, decent priced fallback (especially with a voucher) and comparison to others means I don't often go elsewhere!!

I was off ill yesterday.

Biggest learning of being off ill for the first time in about 5 years?

Remembering how good the Boon theme tune is! What a banger!

First sick day for about 5 years today.

Forcing myself to actually not do much work.

Hopefully back to full health tomorrow!

Took my son to watch it yesterday too. A good film - but as you say the product placement was so in your face.
