Found my first entomopathogenic fungus!! Isaria sp. (I. sinclarii?) growing from a cicada larvae. Found in Spencer, TN.
@lukelukeluke.bsky.social I meant to do this in the OG post. Tag. And thanks!
The 2025 MSA conference was both humbling and inspiring! I learned a lot about current advances in mycology and ways to be an impactful Florida cultivator. Saddened by funding cuts affecting all sciences right now. Hoping a door opens soon that will allow me to expand my research endeavors in 2026.
My master’s thesis research has been officially published in the Journal of Fungal Ecology! The link below allows anyone free access to it until August 9th:

My foray through Appalachia was successful! Next year, I’ve gotta go a little further north and a little earlier on in the year to find some morels, but I’ll settle for the 5+ pounds of chanterelles I acquired! Found me a honey hole!
Had a great time with the kids and parents from the homeschool group, Explore904! Educating students and adults about the fascinating world of fungi is one of the purest perks of my position with Harmony Mushroom Co.
Happy Mother’s Day to my beautiful mother. She never stops leveling up, and is the reason I know it’s never too late to learn and set goals. She travels the world, inspiring our next generation! From teaching in tiny Alaskan villages, to Kazakhstan, to Thailand, China, and Korea, she’s just amazing.
We finally got some good rain!! May mushroom walk registration link is now available. May 31st at Bogey Creek Preserve. 15 person cap to reduce trail congestion. Refreshments included.

My first publication has been officially accepted for publication in Fungal Ecology!
Seeing this project from start to finish has been such a rewarding experience. I’ve learned so much about endophytes and gall midges. Looking forward to launching a new fungal research project by next year!
I love my job at Harmony Mushroom Co! We had a great, albeit still dry, mushroom walk at Bulls Bay Preserve this past Saturday. We are also rolling out a new 5 mushroom complex dual extract TOMORROW!! This is the turkey tail straining off shown here…I love the color it yields in alcohol extraction!
Big ups to the Jacksonville Arboretum and Gardens for tonight’s networking event… celebrating many things to come!
I had a great birthday! Florida spring is short and sweet but dang I love it while it lasts!
Just so you know, Chamblin’s Bookmine has some great mushroom guides for great prices. They are hidden, so here are some clues.
Next Mushroom Walk is scheduled for April 19th @Bull's Bay! Refreshments included with registration! This is a fun & family friendly event focused on local mushroom identification, appreciation, and education.

This is disgusting and dehumanizing. I’m ashamed to be an American right now.
Had a great walk at the Arboretum Saturday! Not to many mushrooms, but there’s always plenty to talk about with kingdom Fungi! Looking forward to next month at Bulls Bay preserve. Hoping for rain and a fruitful experience. Busting out the noble rot wine for spring! April event details coming soon!
It’s a bit dry but there were some beauties out when I was scouting the arboretum yesterday for our walk tomorrow. Looking forward to talking about mushrooms all day and cataloging this years spring diversity at the Jacksonville Arboretum& Gardens!

Here are some Xylaria species I found while in Costa Rica! Xylaria teleomorphs are some of the most fascinating and alien-looking forms to me.
