Looks like MCP is here to stay. OpenAI has just added support in their Agents SDK, despite MCP being created by Anthropic: openai.github.io/openai-agent...
Went through the same recently. Tried giving VS Code another go to test out cursor/copilot but I've come back to Goland after just a few days
