All true, I’m right, and I’ll be taking no questions at this time

Ideally, I’d have made this post on New Years Day, but time’s a bitch and I fell behind; anyways, here is a link to my extraordinarily subjective, semi ranked and definitely exhaustive letterboxd list of every horror movie I saw in 2025 (of which there were many).

Trying my best at least!
Cover art for the game. Features a man with a surreal face and the text "Dark Dreams on Diverging Roads"
Features the tutorial, where the player (a car) gets coffee for the first time. The text reads, "The smell of fresh coffee does wonderful things to your brain."
Features the player (a car) being out in a woodland area by the bridge. Their radio is acting up
Features the player (a car) in the middle of a dense forest
I’m so excited to announce “Dark Dreams on Diverging Roads”!
In this game you’ll play as a famous author on a book tour. Drive to unique locations, meet interesting characters, drink lots of coffee, and LOOK BEHIND YOU.

Poster for Splinter, directed by Toby Wilkins. Features a discoloured hand with black splinters protruding out of the knuckles and fingers grabbing what seems to be a sheet of metal or glass.
Second watch of the night; Splinter, from Toby Wilkins. Definitely a 2000s riff on probably better movies, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t a good time. Single location body horror with some solid performances and a cool creature concept. Bit messy, too much shaky cam, otherwise fun as hell.

Anything aquatic horror adjacent tends to be super fun to me, very cozy, and this one was no exception.
Poster for My Soul To Take, directed by Wes Craven. Features an eclectic group of teens standing in a line facing the viewer at the top of the image. Their feet appear to be dripping ink down towards the title at the bottom.
Just watched My Soul To Take, one of Wes Craven’s last movies; I’d seen the trailer a ton when rewatching my Resident Evil Extinction dvd way back, but missed it upon release… which makes me kinda sad in hindsight. Very dumb, kinda heady and odd, and I had a total blast!
Tentatively recommended!
Yeah, Dagon is on the grosser side of things for sure. Dolls is a good bit of fun (and less gross than his usual). If you haven’t seen From Beyond yet, I’d also recommend it very strongly, it might be my favorite from him, although it’s on par or maybe grosser even than Dagon, so ymmv.
@amagire@mastodon.social elevated horror: what if you're grieving your loved one TOO MUCH? folk horror: what if a child's disability could EAT PEOPLE? supernatural horror: what if your childhood trauma could EAT PEOPLE? psychological horror: what if your adult trauma could EAT PEOPLE? body horror: what if your gender dysphoria could EAT PEOPLE? slasher horror: what if a random guy was trying to kill you, instead of a cop or your boyfriend?
this one doin numbers on mastodon but bsky doesn't let me have enough characters
Just rewatched Identity with my wife, and I’m realizing more and more just how much of a crush I have on John Cusack, like dayum
Dead and Buried is fantastic, and the Crazies remake was really solid too. Wanted to see Messiah of Evil for a while now, didn’t think of it in connection to this so thats moving right on up the list. Only vaguely familiar with Grabbers, so I’ll look into that too! Ty for the recs!
I skew on the higher side (9 or 10/10), but mostly due to personal bias, and maybe a bit of nostalgia. Definitely a flawed game, but I’m glad you enjoyed it overall! You have any plans to play through any of the others? 3 is also great, in a slightly different way.
I’d love to see The Fog in cinemas, I’m a bit jealous; I can imagine that being a great time for sure! Dagon is also fantastic, I love almost anything Stuart Gordon. I’ve been debating on whether my wife would enjoy it or not, I think it’s 50/50.
Midnight Mass was fantastic; Flanagan in general is a great vibe for Halloween honestly. Dead and Buried and The Fog are actually some of my top options, especially the former; I was so impressed with that one.
The Block Island Sound has been on my watchlist for a while, so that’s now a top pick!
Gg, how’d you end up liking it?
Thats me, I’m the partner, and yes, the puppies did get me
Anyone have any good offbeat horror movie recommendations? Especially stuff with that cozy, small town vibe (maybe coastal too? That shit hits). Looking for movie candidates to watch with my wife on halloween

That sounds like a great evening to me, and maybe throw in Event Horizon too just for kicks
Movie poster for The Vourdalak. Depicts the bust of a man with very pale makeup emotionlessly looking towards the viewer; he is wearing a blue overcoat, and seems to have a white kerchief around his neck. A hairless, humanoid creature is behind the man, grabbing him by the head and shoulder and appears to be biting the man's neck.
Poster for the movie Cure. Highly detailed closeup of the right side of a man's face, seemingly mesmerized by something out of view. There is a glint in his eye that appears to be a reflection of a small flame from possibly a candle.
Poster for the movie The Day of the Beast. High contrast colors; bright red background, with the title typed out in a deep black on the top half of the image in a scratchy font. Between the 'S' and 'T' is a bright white silhouette of a horned, humanoid figure casting a light in the shape of a cross.
Apparently every post from me is a 'hey, sorry I haven't posted in a while' but uhh, yeah; horror movie update time:
1. The Day of the Beast (1995, dir. Álex de la Iglesia)
2. The Vourdalak (2023, dir. Adrien Beau
3. Cure (1997, dir. Kiyoshi Kurosawa)
All highly recommended depending on your mood.
The openings for both The Summer Hikaru Died and Dan Da Dan season 2 are sooooo good 😩👌
I stopped posting about Silksong because I stopped playing the game hehe 🥲 It wasn’t the difficulty per se (the last thing I did was the Slab, and I didn’t die once). It just no longer felt fun 🙁 I’ll revisit it at some point but I’m a little bummed out
I know I’m late but A&W by Lana Del Rey is so good holy shit 😭
Yeah, there’s definitely a lot more immediate frustration in Silksong for me; definitely love it but I suck hard and I feel its a bit buggier as well
‘Humbled’, yeah, right
We were playing simultaneously (for any reading this); she was doing all this crazy shit in game, first or second trying bosses, making the White Palace her b****, etc while I was fighting for my life out there
Bosses you beat on your first try because you’re awesome, even though you won’t admit it 😝
Screenshot of my saved file showing hours spent in the game (44h) and completion percentage (106%). Also shows that I got all the health/soul slots
Just beat Hollow Knight 😊 Had such a fun time playing through it! Not only was the gameplay good but the world was so beautiful and (ik I'm weird for thinking this) cozy 🥺
I wasn't able to do 112% (some of those dream bosses are way too tough...) but I managed to get further than I expected :)
Yes we did ❤️
