Random thoughts--
LOTS of hyena refs ofc, but this is the general though process I have. They're small squishy-squarish guys, and making them look just a little yuck makes them look cuter.

Wide, flat, rounded-box. And they scrunch up fun.
I don't aways draw the nose or teeth anatomically correct.
