3/ "Supreme Court practice" based in DC and stocked mostly with former Supreme Court clerks. Jane Roberts' client base, I guess. No one else need apply - er, file a cert petition - though at least in the previous four decades (until perhaps recently) about 9k folks, businesses and organizations did.

2/ they grant that doesn't bear the name of a state AG or the US Solicitor General or a major nonprofit legal organization of the right (affiliated with the Koch network) or the left (e.g. ACLU) bears the name of a "Supreme Court specialist" at one of the handful of uber-elite law firms with a ...
1/ Almost no one, even most lawyers, I think, know that the Court in recent decades has agreed to hear fewer than 70 cases each year on their regular docket, which has a pre-fixed number of slots for argument. Recently it's ~ 60. And that the cover of virtually every cert petition among the ~ 60 ...
THIS. Absolutely.

As with declining trust in universities, you cannot explain the timing or this trend, or fix it, without first acknowledging the reality that the the primary driver of these is the Republican Party’s near-total collapse into far right authoritarianism in the last decade:

Does Roberts even acknowledge these days that irreparable harm and balancing of the equities are supposed to be the justification for their intervening? Isn't he just jumping in and ruling based on a new rule of law he's implying and later will actually make the law? These aren't fact-based rulings.
Trump is always threatening to sue & now Kash Patel says he will sue. Congress needs to mandate in these cases that there be a Special Prosecutor so that they do not get sycophants to hand them money. And immediately on a threat to sue, we get to depose them in court under oath. Put up or shut up.
People complain that Democrats don't fight back. Redistricting in states like Virginia is exactly that and yet some voters are squeamish about voting for it. To be blunt, fighting back doesn't just include public officials but you too. So, if need be, hold your nose and vote YES.
The Brennan probe looks less like neutral fact-finding than an effort to convert Trump’s “Russia hoax” grievance into a DOJ-backed criminal theory against officials tied to the Russia investigation.
Former White House newsman @ronfournier.bsky.social is saddened that “dozens of [current reporters] and your corporate bosses are planning to honor Trump with his presence Saturday at the annual White House Correspondents Dinner celebrating freedom of the press."
He adds: "I don’t get it."
Tim Cook donated $1M to Trump’s inauguration.
He fawned over Trump and gifted him a 24-karat gold plaque (as Apple lobbied for tariff exemptions).
Apple donated to Trump’s White House ballroom.
And it removed ICE tracking apps from its stores following a demand from the DOJ.
Remember this.
NEW: A former Trump campaign lawyer who backed efforts to overturn the 2020 election has been appointed to a U.S. attorney’s office leading a sprawling probe into federal officials who investigated Trump.
The move marks another significant blow to the DOJ's independence from the White House.

Allegedly tRump tried to grab the nuclear codes in a White House meltdown—only for the Joint Chiefs chairman to stand up and say “No.” Apparently, even the military knows this unhinged man is too dangerous for the football. How much longer can America risk it?

This is important. Even if Pumpkin Spice Palpatine gets the same deal as Obama, Iran has increased its stockpiles because of Trump killing the O Man’s deal.
Obama signed his historic Iran deal without a war, without 13 dead American soldiers + thousands of dead civilians, without causing a global energy crisis, & without costing taxpayers a dime.
Trump is an EPIC fuckup, & it’s going to take decades to recover. We warned them in 2024, & here we are.
Took a night-train from Budapest Keleti to Stuttgart last night. They don’t make railway stations like they used to!
