If you tell kids they're only supposed to read stuff they're not interested in then don't be surprised when they don't want to read at all.
This was before the chanting was pre-recorded. For segments 1, 4, 5, 7, 10, 11, and 14, the puppeteers chanted the numbers AS they operated the pipes. You can tell that David Rudman puppeteered pipe #1 for all of the first seven segments.
