Yeah tbh this is unprecendented investment into new haven rail infra at both stations, overwhelming amount of public comment is “ok now that you have these great stations, run more trains”
also fun to see they rendered in the current state st roadway project into their design, it will tie in nice

farmington canal trail, two crossings are visible in hamden, single reflective yellow bollard on the centerline of the trail
the new centerline bollards already feel so much more comfortable, not having to dodge the large double bollards that were often flipped down and barely visible
some construction debris from the old holes will get cleaned up when the trail approaches are repaved (~40’ before each crossing)

my sources tell me these markings at elm and orange mean the intersection is finally getting pedestrian signals! no more having to look up at the vehicular signals

ugh like hooray for new housing, but having lived in a "garden apartment complex" like this, your view out the window is a parking lot, you wanna go for a walk it's in the parking lot, you get to hear and breathe everyone remote starting their cars in the morning, car alarms, etc. it's dismal
construction is well underway now! pictured here is division st, which is about halfway done. old double bollards have been removed, new single removable bollard installed, and sidewalk ramps have been replaced with full height curb and sidewalk

As someone who uses the traffic modeling program Synchro, quoting projected queue lengths as the gospel and then using them to fight good transportation design is completely unserious. Synchro is good for getting a general idea of traffic ops and testing phasing but it can’t model human behavior
