www.theguardian.com/culture/2026... Here’s a campaign to get behind. #TrigpointTuesday #Trigpoint #TrigpointThursday
Then let’s do the same for Fundamental Benchmarks!! #BenchMarkMonday
So many to choose from for #BenchMarkMonday but here’s a slightly worn cut mark from Southwell Minster, Notts. Beautifully pointed out by my daughter.
#JustAnotherManholeMonday A lovely circular Stanton with a cobweb designed grill. Southwell Road, Farnsfield, Notts.
A replica Penfold postbox in green livery stands on a pavement with a red London bus behind

I’ve just signed the Parent Pact, joining the growing community of parents locally choosing to wait to get their kids a smartphone. It takes 30 seconds, and you can see how many others have signed in your school.
Just listening to Witch Hunt by #Rush and thinking that Neil Peart really was a poet and should be taught in schools.
The Roman wall in London as it survives under One America Square. Nice surprise for #WallsWednesday #WallsOnWedenesday
Lighting design could do with a tweak mind…
A black sign with gold lettering detailing the history of St. Lawrence Jewry in London. The sign has a wooden frame with lead flashing at the top protecting the frame from water running down the stone wall it is mounted on.
The corner of a stone wall. The stone has been cut so the corner is bevelled. On the bevelled edge is an ordnance survey cut bench mark with a rivet at the point of the broad arrow.
#BenchmarkMonday A nice cut mark with rivet on St. Lawrence Jewry, That London.
A rectangular, iron manhole cover sits in a grass lawn. In the upper centre of the cover is the word Wrekin.
A brick building with 3 pitched gables. The central section has a large bay window. In front of the building is a set of stone steps leading to a large lawn
#JustAnotherManholeMonday A rectangular Wrekin in the lawn in front of the Parsonage at Clumber Park Notts. Although the main house was demolished in 1938, Clumber still has a good selection of service blocks and buildings including the Parsonage pictured here.
#SundialSunday Nice sundial on the lawn outside the Parsonage at Clumber Park, Notts. Interesting to read the places on the face of the dial.
A red, hexagonal pillar box stands in front of a terraced Georgian house with railings and a sign which reads ‘University of Liverpool’
#PostboxSaturday A lovely Penfold in Abercromby Square, Liverpool.
One league under the sea
A stone wall with a metal bracket marked with the broad arrow and OS BM G3575.
A ridiculously-happy, middle-aged man, sporting sunglasses, shorts and a gilet, points at a short, concrete pillar surrounded by green railings.
A concrete pillar surmounted by a circular brass/copper plaque sits within a patch of grass with dandelions. The words HEIGHT ABOVE DATUM and 797.28 FT are embossed on the top of the plaque and in the centre is a stud.
Two children, a girl and boy, stand in front of a railed enclosure containing a concrete pillar. The boy is holding on to a lamppost with a square ‘no through road’ sign and a circular 30mph speed limit sign.
An absolute corker for #BenchMarkMonday
First up a nice flush bracket G3575 located in a #WorldHeritageSite - Mill Road, Cromford just opposite Arkwright’s Mill.
And the pièce de résistance the Fundamental Bench Mark at Riber, Derbyshire - 797.28 ft AOD. A first for Alice, Sid and me.
Had a quick look as I’ve not seen one completely unadorned - the Scottish ones just have a crown and Royal Mail but that’s another story. This one appears to be a Victorian anomaly where some were issued without the royal cipher or any other lettering. They were manufactured by Handyside and Co.
Or has the image been doctored?
Interesting that it doesn’t have a cipher.
“…her performance led…” surely?
George VI wall box at Southwell, Notts post office. Still in use. also Postage stamps dispensers no longer in use.
#PostboxSaturday
I’d be interested to see if/when the first C III R postbox arrives in Scotland
Today’s weather in Farnsfield, Notts?
Hail! And according to weather app 7C - but feels like -3C.
No wonder I’m sat sitting in me gilet.
We live in hope…
Lovely. Not many left in the wild
Is that an Allan Williams Turret?
Here’s a lovely hexagonal Stanton Challenger, Edingley, Notts.

A red post box stands in front of a brick wall with a telegraph pole and a classic red telephone box.
A close up of a telegraph pole with a BT number carved into the wood. In the background is a K6 telephone kiosk.
#PostboxSaturday lovely grouping of a king’s crown K6 telephone kiosk (now book exchange), BT telegraph pole and an E II R post box. Edingley, Notts.
