Western civilization, the place where the rich get richer and richer while everyone else has a problem.

It seems a hugely threatening White Supremacist manifesto.

It does not acknowledge a debt to Humanity, to Science, to Mathematics, but to a particular nation state - simple nationalism.

It presents a xenophobic, blinkered control-freak agenda.

A company best avoided! @PapantirTech #Palantir

It's also worth being clear about who's doing the arguing. Palantir sells operational software to defence, intelligence, immigration & police agencies. These 22 points aren't philosophy floating in space, they're the public ideology of a company whose revenue depends on the politics it's advocating.

This is what verification looks like once national identity sits above method. Rigorous when it's pointed at adversaries, conveniently absent when it's pointed at us. Symmetric, evidence-led investigation of allied conduct, exactly what Bellingcat does, becomes the thing the worldview can't tolerate

Because we get asked a lot.

The Technological Republic, in brief.

1. Silicon Valley owes a moral debt to the country that made its rise possible. The engineering elite of Silicon Valley has an affirmative obligation to participate in the defense of the nation.

2. We must rebel against the tyranny of the apps. Is the iPhone our greatest creative if not crowning achievement as a civilization? The object has changed our lives, but it may also now be limiting and constraining our sense of the possible.

3. Free email is not enough. The decadence of a culture or civilization, and indeed its ruling class, will be forgiven only if that culture is capable of delivering economic growth and security for the public.

4. The limits of soft power, of soaring rhetoric alone, have been exposed. The ability of free and democratic societies to prevail requires something more than moral appeal. It requires hard power, and hard power in this century will be built on software.

Palantir put out a 22-point summary of their CEO's book The Technological Republic. It's pitched as a defence of the West, but if you read it through the VDA framework, verification, deliberation, accountability, what it's actually doing looks rather different.

This excellent thread by @eliothiggins.bsky.social breaks down how Palantir is arguing for increased power and less accountability for the tech oligarchs—it’s worth reading in full:

Progress begins when WE end the GOP.

Don't forget the Pedophile Protectors:

Don't forget Midterms are coming.

Hell to the no. All imperialists including and especially England can sit on a top and spin. Yes, America was worse because even England was like, "whoa dude, slow down!" but much like Trump vs Bush Jr, just because one makes the other look good by comparison, they're still war criminals.

How to Recover from Caring Too Much If you laugh at unfunny jokes, raise your hand too quickly, or can’t decide on your favorite color, you may be exhibiting a fawn response.

The trauma response known as fawning wears various faces: perfectionism, promiscuity, self-deprecation, workaholism. Two new books advise on how to “unfawn”—but what do we lose in the process? newyorkermag.visitlink.me/3RKHQg

Mamdani is *barely* taxing the rich. He’s making the city about $500 million more per year from this tiny tax (the city is still like $5 billion in debt) and $38,000 is like a five dollar bill to them and they’re still crying like someone murdered their puppy.

34,000 doormen, porters, & building workers sustain 3,500 buildings across this city. The gap between the people who serve and the people they serve has gone on long enough.

I'll be proudly standing with 32BJ on the picket line. The people who power New York deserve better wages & safer conditions.

Mike Miles’ Former Charter School Network Expands Its Footprint in Texas Some school district leaders say they believed they had only one option for a partnership to avoid state takeover.

“The board made it clear at the board meeting that they were being pressured or threatened by TEA … that the district is under threat of takeover if they don’t make some pretty big changes, and Third Future is the only authorized turnaround partner from TEA.”
