I did the Ground Grind for the first time in 14 years this morning and it wasn’t horrible. And it was fun to see the Grizzly bears at the top, clearly the fan favourite.

Steveston Bakery, by far. They have a light creamy vanilla “custard”, not the typical sugary yellow paste that’s normally sickly sweet.

I love the summer heat in Vancouver, but I'll also gladly take a cool overcast July day after days of heat wave temperatures.

I have some strawberries on new plants I bought a few weeks ago. They're a week away from being ripe. The squirrels are just waiting. Who will get there first?

I no longer live in an area where there are deer, but when I did, they would eat my tomatoes a day before I was planning to pick them.

A cute cartoon illustration of a smiling salmon mascot dressed in a red and white sailor outfit stands on a green lawn with evergreens and a heron in the cattail reeds along the Fraser River, stands next to a Canada flag, with "Steveston Salmon Festival" and "Join the Celebration on July 1!" in red font on top.

So, I'm volunteering at the Salmon Festival tomorrow. 75,000 are expected to show up! Will I see you there?

Absentmindedly stared down Michael Stipe and all of REM inside Vancouver’s Opus Hotel restaurant, Elixir, while they were sitting down eating brunch and I was waiting for a host to serve me.

B.C. government says more oversight coming for dysfunctional municipalities | CBC News The ongoing dysfunction in the City of Kamloops has gotten so bad that the B.C. government is considering major changes to the oversight of feuding city councils across the province.

You know those B.C. municipalities where the mayor and council investigate and sue each other in a neverending cycle of dysfunction while locals wait for a general election that could take years?

The province says they want to put an end to that.

Wow when I saw this post, it was so wild, I had to look up the raw trade data for myself.

Sure enough, U.S. wine exports to Canada have fallen off a cliff:

Seeing the Weather Station live in concert was the medicine I needed tonight.

Opening act, poet and singer songwriter Anna Tivel, was Leonard Cohenesque.

It's hard to tell when they're that young but my educated guess is you've just hatched a nest of baby orb weaver spiders.

Muskoka chairs on a deck overlooking Falcon Lake at Whiteshell Provincial Park in Manitoba.

My heart goes out to all the folks impacted by the Manitoba wildfires. I read that Whiteshell Provincial Park is under evacuation, which was where I spent some time many years ago; a gorgeous summer holiday destination in the Canadian shield. I hope everyone there is safe.

people: very cool

people: will they have 3 municipalities?
