Not the worst part of this, but really just such a sick, depraved man to attempt to pit brother against brother.

SEAN EVANS: As you tackle the fires of Da Bomb, a two-part question as a Chicagoan and a Pope: one, who wins a best-of-7 between the '05 White Sox and '16 Cubs, and two, as part of the Nostra Aetate dogma of Vatican II--

THE POPE: (coughing) fuck!

Devastating to have multiple commenters at SEC Speaks say they consulted (or in one case are consulting in real time) ChatGPT/Grok for information about their industry

Twisted party trick from clerking down there is the ability to recall an almost endless stream of messed up qualified immunity decisions no matter what fact pattern

Cf. Corbitt v Vickers, 929 F.3d 130 (11th Circuit. 2019) (granting immunity to officer who shot a child after aiming at—but missing—the family dog).

Genuine question: why are Americans obsessed with protecting illegal immigrants?
I'm really confused as a Canadian.

Literally have never once in my entire life looked at anything happening—good or bad—and said “I need to know the technical status of this persons visa before I form an opinion”

Incomprehensible to me how anyone cares so much they will justify sending Nazi goons to beat and kidnap people

Add this to the “first” orders of business in the after time:

Seize whatever US nexus assets exist for this and close it up. The person of the Presidency is incapable of receiving any emolument from any foreign state. Anything paid to this fake org should inure to the benefit of the Am. People.

Indeed, wide swaths of American society have resisted and defeated various incarnations of the Slave Power. The Confederacy was crushed, Jim Crow abolished, MAGA is next

Heirs of those movements ought have no claim to “America,” but certainly we should not concede they have a *better* claim to it.

Sorry but anyone who tries to tell you (leftistly) that Calhoun is a more authentic exemplar of the American political tradition than Frederick Douglass is a wrecker.

Right exactly. I think this debate gets confused slightly by people who either believe we are already in the Cool Zone™️ or that it’s inevitable.

Whereas in reality I think people underestimate—even as bad as things are now—how much more has to go sideways before that’s where we end up

Sure there is the practical “who has the keys” question but that’s the trivial result. If they’re willing to use force to block people from assembling we’re down the bad path quite a ways at that point (even then they still have to get the courts, states, police, army etc to go along with it)

Yeah but I mean at some point one has more people in a room than the other. If the theory is that they’re doing this block a change in House control then at some point there will just be more legit Dems in a room

Once a Democratic member is “seated” I would think them recognizing other democratic members as “seated” would snowball until a constitutional quorum was established

I guess legitimacy is still in the eye of the beholder in this scenario a bit but seems “relatively”straightforward

I think in the crisis scenario the answer lies through something like Powell v. McCormack, 395 U.S. 486 (1969). “The House” to refuse to seat members duly elected under State law. The fact of election should be judicially ascertainable.

The last thing the American people want is to be involved in another forever war. My statement on Trump's unconstitutional attack on Venezuela:
