Currently WordPress’s design feels like Windows 10, some parts are modern and others are straight out of Windows XP.

It looks similar to the recent “Full Site Editing” panel they created. Definitely looks better than what we currently have haha. Though it could take a long time to implement.

If the game uses anti-cheat then it most probably won’t work (or work very poorly) on Linux. That includes games like Valorant, Fifa, Fortnite, Overwatch…etc.

Sameee I think I’m not gonna use it just cause it’s a blend of relatives, childhood friends, school friends, then online friends…etc and it ends up being weird 😂 feels like Facebook all over again

For me I see ActivityPub helping their image more so than with content or users

Why’d they be desperate? Seems to be doing better than Mastodon & Bluesky even though it has been only a few hours into it

2 years ago 2 0 1 0

Yeah it might but if they end up owning 90% marketshare and only 10% are on other instances, it would be very much worth it for them. Especially considering they don’t really have to make this move tbh, I’m glad they’re doing it.

Oh I see. That explains his lack of enthusiasm then.

Also once Meta does their magic with marketing and ppl understand the product more, it makes it easier for Mastodon federations (is that what it’s called lol?) to market their instances. (We’re threads but blah blah is better…etc).

Yeah exactly, and that’s exactly what I love about Mastodon. People can use the instance they feel like most aligns with their browsing needs. And by Threads integrating into it, it gives these other options more visibility to people that never even heard of it.

Isn’t he still the largest shareholder though? And can’t he practically shut it down? Not sure about the details tbh

I think they’re embracing ActivityPub because most people will stick to Threads even if there are better options. I personally think this is great, you’d be able to use your favorite Mastodon instance whilst also having access to the masses when need be.

I also find it strange that Jack Dorsey seems to be neglecting Bluesky and I see him using Twitter more than Bsky. Not a good look.

I mean Twitter in general is relatively small compared to the other social networks like Facebook, IG, TikTok, and YT. So I don’t think it’s just that people prefer Twitter.

Why did I always assume you were from the US 😂

On the other hand, I’m sitting here with 3 Bluesky invites and no one seems to be interested 😬

Generally the ppl ik in real life don’t use Twitter anyways. Facebook is still very popular internationally (and IG ofc). So I thought their adoption would be slower.

I have to say, they made getting started super easy. Their UI is also amazing. But yet again, it’s Meta :(

I remember reading that they’re experimenting to kill all of these advanced search features. It was a year ago though.

But decent & sane is really hard to do at scale. Not sure if it has ever been done? When there are 8 billion people on earth it can be very hard to police them all with the same policy.

Both Twitter & Facebook failed at that. And I still don’t understand what Bluesky has in store for that issue.

Not sure the scum people would leave Twitter tbh which is good 😂 but in just 1 day I’m already seeing many ppl ik in real life joining it’s actually insane. I didn’t think it’ll be this fast.

And if Bluesky’s goal isn’t to go mainstream, then their primary competitor would be Discord imo.

In less than an hour, it already surpassed Bluesky.

But Bluesky wanted to grow slowly intentionally. Not sure that’s the best strategy for a mainstream social media network. Yet again, maybe that’s not their goal.

😂😂😂

Yeah frozen funds means they keep it for some time to make sure the sender doesn’t request it back.

They can either create an account or make a transfer from their bank account directly to it. If it’s verified & you’ve been using it for a while you might be fine. Just make sure you don’t need that money urgently.

Yes I really despise Paypal. If your account is new then be prepared to have your funds be froze for 30-60 days (especially if it’s a big amount). Wise.com is my favorite rn.

How does Bluesky pull this off with Meta’s potential Mastodon instance? They solve the UX & branding problem of Mastodon. How does Bluesky compete in such a space?

Studying for the GRE was humbling to say the least. But I got the score I wanted so I’m not complaining.
