He’s not a perfect choice at all, but that’s the point. She wasn’t a great person either, they were both flawed. But Lucy needed to choose love to stop seeing it as simple math. That doesn’t mean her choice would be right for everyone though, and I don’t think that’s what the movie is trying to say.

What’s missing in some of the discourse about The Materialists (spoilers ahead) is that I don’t think the movie is trying to say that a guy like Lucy’s final pick is the right choice for everyone, but simply that he was the right choice for HER because of what she learned throughout the film.

Went to watch today’s Wicked screening and the entire theater cheered when the movie ended, got super quiet as the For Good trailer started, then cheered even louder when it was over. It was the most wholesome thing. 🥹

Bail Organa has been in my list of Top 10 Star Wars characters for a while, but after rewatching ROTS in theaters, seeing him in Andor, and now reading about him in Mask of Fear, he is dangerously close to breaking my Top 5. He’s just so wonderful.

At this point I think we might have seen more found families (at least for main characters) in Star Wars than actual families related by blood. It’s such a consistent Star Wars trope and I live for it.

The way he repeatedly had to tell Mon “I told you so,” the way Bail getting Mon out of the Senate was rewritten so that Luthen could get all the glory, even the way Wilmon and Cassian defended Luthen to the Rebel Alliance… It all just felt so heavy handed and obvious to me.

I still feel like certain characters (Cassian, Bail, Mon) were written in such a way to make Luthen the great hero of Andor (though it’s Cassian’s show…) and that is why, out of spite, I will never really like him. 🤷🏻‍♀️

ANDOR creator Tony Gilroy praises Kathleen Kennedy for the success of the show:

I watched the golden trifecta of films in theaters this weekend: a Star Wars movie (A New Hope), a Marvel movie (Thunderbolts*) and a period piece (Pride & Prejudice 2005).

I finally watched the first 3 episodes of The Last of Us today and I already knew what was going to happen (not because I played the game but because I saw a spoiler on the internet a long time ago) but it was still traumatizing. 🙃

Fighting the urge to see Pride & Prejudice in theaters for the 5th time since there are still showtimes out there 👀

Watching Revenge of the Sith in theaters just confirmed to me that Star Wars is often at its best when it’s camp, and I mean that in the best possible way.

Currently sitting in the theater to watch Pride & Prejudice for the fourth time because I have a problem. 🤭 It’s my favorite movie, okay? I want to live in it but I can’t, so this is the closest I can get.
