One wonders what kind of frozen social relationship LLM-generated code is, if it's even that - or just a thawed impression of one, with the social part already gone.

Thank you all for pitching in - fair points, all of them! With all this in mind, I think I can give it one more episode and see if it finally clicks for me. And if it still isn’t for me… that’s okay too.

Any advice for someone who didn’t connect with the first episode? The pacing felt slow to me, and the main character came off a bit exaggerated. Does it get better?

This is just amazing ❤️. Laughed so hard!

I’ll admit my first reaction was “ugh, academics…” 😊 But this is not half-bad. LLMs are great at translating fuzzy language into formal structure, and reducing that into something like 3-SAT (NP-complete, sure, but with mature, standardized solvers that work well in practice) is 🤌. Awesome work ❤️

I’m really enjoying this thread. The topic’s pretty bleak - but then again, what isn’t these days? Still, when it comes to ‘dancing on the wreckage,’ this is top-tier🥇

Started Citizen Sleeper on an unexpected (and unprompted) LLM recommendation - such a wonderful game! The way it explores emergent social structures and collective agency feels deeply connected to Liberating Structures. Can't wait for LLMs that specialize in these themes ✨.

Werewolf Futures The other day I joked that the hardest part about watching some movies is suspending disbelief that AI is possible, but on the other hand, movies about werewolves, zombies and vampires don't bother me...

Hear me out: what if we replaced werewolves with AI in that sentence? The genre conventions and hierarchy critiques work surprisingly well both ways: www.jwz.org/blog/2025/01...

Indeed it does

So much stuff to unpack here:
1. suspension of disbelief: we often grant more latitude to human surprises vs machine ones
2. deliberation as oscillation between mundane moments and perspective-shifting ones.
3. scaling surprise: surprising one person is an art, but surprising 1 million people..?

Absolutely! Yet, reshaping the network’s structure to influence the flows of power is no small feat. It requires intentionality and collaboration to redefine those dynamics.

Hm. Hadn't heard of the term "freedom of reach" before, but it's interesting. Implies more about the right to a network SHAPE, rather than a right to push an arbitrary CONTENT signal into the network. I deeply vibe w that. Feels like the 2nd-order requirement for being #agentic in the human network

This is both inspiring and unsettling, but thought-provoking nonetheless.

Not bad indeed. Better than most contemporary contributions to the topic too.

LLMs are great: "I changed 'Giannis' to 'Giorgos' which is more in line with Greek naming conventions" 😂
