It wasn't until the visit to Elpis during EW where he'd gain back some sense of sight thanks to Venat. She couldn't fully reverse the damage that the light corruption had caused but managed to make it so Varret was able to detect aether with his previously blind eye-
Luckily his co-wol walked in and stopped him before he manage to stab his own eye and so it only resulted in a scar across his eyelid. However the light corruption in shb worsened the healing process causing him to lose his eyesight in that eye along with other physical and mental complications-
The scar across Varret's eye was at first a self inflicted scar. He didn't really know how to handle the grief of losing Haurchefaunt so he tried to carve out his own eye with a dagger the night after the vault took place-
