A fall haiku:
Cool mornings arrive
Hot tea brewing in my cup
Grateful for blessings.

Alone with my memories of my high school years
Like Mr. Jackson taught me-
'What's mine is best'.
I see Mrs. Herrington at her desk,
Reading about life, liberty and pursing happiness.
And truth being self-evident.
I am left to wonder where it all went.

Did I stand up for the right thing?
Was inspired kind to my neighbor?
So, I keep reading, learning, and believing.
Working for a better world is my labor.

As i reflect on those memories
I wonder what happened.
Now I worry
When future generations trace
Their family trees,
When my name is spoken,
What will my legacy be?

American history brought up the
Boston Tea Party
And taxation without representation.
Lead by those rascals-
The Sons of Liberty.
Oh yeah, there is a tariff
Somewhere in there.

Mrs. Martin taught me that an Oxford commander
Goes right here,
And to stop switching my tenses.

Mrs. Fielding challenged my long
And wrong thinking.
Miss. Byrd tried her best to keep
My bread from sinking.

Wrong thoughts and the consequences
Of my actions.

Most thought Mrs. Herrington's 'and ahs'
Were an unnecessary distraction
But to me, they were a subtle hint
Exactly what the Three Fifths Compromise meant.

Mrs. Atkins beautifully read Shakespeare,
And challenged my run on sentences.

Mrs. Herrington's Civics Class
As i grow older,
I start to reflect
On lessons learned
And those who taught
As my fingers grow colder.

I remember those who taught me fractions
And roots of common words I use,
And ancient world history,
With a dash of state and local flare.

When Amazon launched in 1995, there were 5,500 indie bookshops in the U.S., with 7,000 locations. By May of 2023, that number had decreased to 2,185 indies & 2,599 locations.

When you purchase audiobooks via Libro.fm vs. Audible, you directly support indie bookshops. Let's make that number grow ❀️

Hey. You should text/call/voice-note some friends just because. Don't just DM silly videos. Check in with them. We all need some genuine connection right now!
