Besides the substack, things are fine work-wise. Wedding season is transitioning into the holiday season and I'm enjoying my time working with a youth orchestra as an ensemble manager (sometimes I even get to wave my arms).

I started a little Substack as a way to write again. The first post is self-indulgent but at least it felt good to write. open.substack.com/pub/williamt...

If you had a piece in progress that is not going to be published I can help too.
One thing I regularly forget is how much teaching energizes me. I'll drive over worried about some random thing and I'll leave in a much better mood. Just trying to help these kids improve is extremely satisfying.
Are you a dev for a game on a Nintendo system, a journalist, or a person with a cool Nintendo-related story to tell? And do you have a decent mic? We'd love to have you as a guest on our show!
Reach out to me or @gamepodular.com for more info if you're interested
Worth noting, it's not paid
Next year will be a blend of reengaging with music and writing. Alongside finding more work of course. I’m still figuring things out but there should be plenty of professional and personal projects for 2025.
I’m extremely grateful of the opportunity to perform in Peru and give multiple masterclasses to university and conservatory students. It both showed me what I could do as a teacher and how much I need to grow as a musician.
This year has been chaotic. From finishing my master’s to the craziness of auditions, gigs, and finding work. It’s been a surprising adventure.
This piece is fantastic! Also thank you for linking Blom's "Challenging Linearity" piece. I'm excited to read that later.
First time singing as tenor. Definitely higher than I am comfortable with, but I survived!
Last night was a 7-11 pm cocktail party gig in Raleigh. Today I prep for a church gig on Sunday in Greensboro (First time being paid to sing!). First time also singing as a tenor (I usually sing bass). It'll be a fun time.
In terms of my writing/media work, I've written for Unwinnable, Fanbyte, and Rock Paper Shotgun. I also hosted the 10 Minute Gaming Podcast from 2020-2021. I hope to get back into writing/podcasting in the new year.
As a cellist, I have performed and taught internationally in both North and South America. I currently maintain an active schedule teaching and gigging in North Carolina (and surrounding states).
Hi! I'm Will and I'm a freelance troublemaker. I disappeared from the internet to complete graduate school. Now that I've finished I figured it would be a good time to back into freelancing. I am both an independent musician and writer.
