This is absolutely gorgeous! I see great blue herons fairly often and I just love them so much. Your values/contrast are perfect, I can learn a lot from this. Did you draw this from a taxidermied model?

A comic in which we open on master artist, god amongst men, creator of Garfield, Jim Davis. He sits at a graphic tablet, drawing his latest masterpeice. There is a look of happiness on his face, but the way he is underlit by the screen tells us something is off.

Jim says:

"HA HA, 'DID YOU EAT MY LASAGNA,' HA HA"

In the next panel we switch to Jim's POV and see what's on the tablet's screen. There is a full colour drawing of Garfield. Jim's hand, holding a stylus, is obscuring part of the image, as he writes in Not-Heathcliff's dialogue.

All that is written is "SM"

The next panel is the same view, but now the dialogue is complete, and Jim's hand isn't visible, allowing us to see the image --and dialogue-- in full:

"SMITE THE NON-BELIEVERS, JIM...
BUILD ME A THRONE OF THEIR SKULLS"

Final panel. Jim looks as weirdly happy as ever, but now his face is beaded in sweat. There is a beat, before he quietly says "y-yes... master"

I'm eternally amazed by artists who can do stippling, especially as well as this! The shading is so soft and lovely.

Anyone use VGen for commissions? If so does anyone find it helpful for gaining new clients or does it just help make the commission workflow more efficient? Im hoping to be able to draw again soon after I recover from this back surgery from last week.

I swear there are sentences concocted on twitter that you'll never see anywhere else. Its wild lol. Bluesky feels humorless sometimes imo. Much much kinder tho, which cant be said for twitter looool.

Miss you so much Poppy. I hope that you're happy to be reunited with my grandma up there (she just passed away few weeks ago just shy of 100 years old). Keep flying high.

www.af.mil/News/Article... Here's an article about when he visited Normandy with other vets, including some of the few surviving members of his flight group (only 7 survived the war including my grandpa). You can see him in the first photo in the center and spoke during the ceremony. He met Obama!!

I only learned about his whole story years after he passed when I found a recording from the Library of Congress where they interviewed him. He lost a wing and landed it at one point, no injuries! And after the war ended he went back to running a kosher meat plant and never talked about it.

Happy Veterans day specifically to my grandpa. He flew a P47 Thunderbolt bomber plane in the Hell Hawks fighter group on D-Day and, to my knowledge, was the most decorated Jewish pilot in the air force. He was so so cool but barely talked about his time in the air force.

Video

This video of Chicagoans intervening to save a man from being abducted off the streets by ICE is making the rounds on Instagram.

One of the best ways u can help your creative friends: sharing our work

All day long ppl (many I don’t even know) send me reels on IG, meme posts they think I’ll find funny, etc. I’m grateful that any1 thinks of me enough to do that.

If they’d share MY work w/ that same spirit?! Oh man.

every time I draw it hurts so bad :( hate having so many medical issues. I was preparing for MCAT when I realized my health would prevent me from being an MD. I thought art would work out instead but it's just gotten harder. I want to draw, but drawing for only an hour or two at a time sucks a lot.

a semi-nude woman walking towards the viewer, holding a knife with a man's face reflected in it. she's in a grimy apartment with the kitchen behind her, and she's lit from behind by a window in the kitchen.
