Hawker Typhoon, WW2 fighter-bomber, on display in the sunshine at RAF Coningsby, the home of the RAF's Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. Normally displayed in the RAF Museum, it was loaned to Canada for a time, as Canadian Squadrons had played a part in the Normandy invasion in 1944. It was displayed at the Canada Air & Space Museum in 2014 in the markings of 440 Sqn, RCAF. The engine cowlings are removed to show the Napier Sabre 24 cylinder sleeve-valve engine. MN235 was never issued to the RAF and was sent to the USA for testing.

Hawker Typhoon Ib. This fighter bomber type played a big part in the Normandy campaign of 1944. This one never saw action; she was shipped to the USA for testing, then stored. Acquired by the RAF Museum, she is seen here at RAF Coningsby, the home of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight
