As usual, the court decides what's acceptable and what is not. Free speech absolutism is impossible - you can't tolerate death threats. Nobody was arrested for merely posting a joke unless this "joke" was something like "kill them all". Same rules in civilized parts of USA.

Russia signed agreement in 1997 saying Russia accepts this "expansion". You were wrong when you wrote "it was by the USA". It was by Lithuania, Poland, Hungary (etc.).

Not true. Where you get such data? In 2022, Ukraine is 118/180 (and improving). Not good, but far cry from "top 5". Or from Russia (137/180 and worsening).
Me and you don't live in the same country, so of course we are different "we". In my country, many people volunteered and went there anyway.
Then you really don't know much about it. Ukrainian "distinct identity" consists of two elements: (1) it's Eastern Slavic ethnically, but pro-Western politically; (2) Cossack ethos. Both elements can be traced to 13th century, if not earlier. They are fully merged in 17th century.
There was a short living first Ukrainian republic, 1917-1921. Before that, Cossack Hetmanate was de facto independent for more than a century.
