Today kinda looks mirrored, if you're not too strict about how numbers are written.

I've started playing through Far: Changing Tides, an indie game follow-up to the ingenious Far: Lone Sails.
If you're into games with distinct visual aesthetics, and Inside-likes with more mechanicals, this might be for you.

Fun fact: It was common superstition in Denmark ca. 1300s~ and on, that each house had a "husnisse". Who guarded and took care of the home if you took care of it. It would even move with you if you house!
I had a great time! The vibes are absolutely immaculate, and it's easy to see the love for the sport and lifestyle in your work.
Thanks for making it! Can't wait to play the full release <3

Totes correct! The jagged cut makes it much much more difficult to line up the pieces if you were to attempt fraud.
It is an amazing example of the ingenuity at play before the advent of modern cryptography and verification tech.
Cut down the middle with decorations that would only match up to the other identical copy!
That way, you could have a deal between two parties where both of them could feel safe that fraud was difficult, since creating a fake that would match up perfectly, was nearly impossible!
๐๏ธ Chirograph(y) !
I just stumbled on something probably well known to students of diplomatics, but all new to me.
A 'chirograph' is a medieval document intended to be verifiable between two copies.
To secure contracts from fakes, two copies were written on one paper, which was then... (continued)
#3! In contrast to what most people think. A Ghoul ISN'T a zombie-like monster, but rather a Djinn that shapeshifts.
Often taking the form of beautiful women to lure men to their death, they can't change their "hoof-feet as the ass"
Pop Quiz! ๐๏ธ
How can you identify a Ghoul?
1. - From the mossy stench that follows them everywhere
2. - By the decayed flesh. Its honestly not difficult
3. - Despite shapeshifting they can't change their donkey hoofs
Answer coming below โฌ๏ธ
Romero was most likely influenced by the literature of the time.
Perhaps H.P Lovecraft's 'Pickman's Model'. Wherein the eponymous model is an evil creature lurking in graveyards and eating corpses.
This is speculation.
Check Al-Rawi's "The Arabic Ghoul and its western transformstion" for more info
The Ghoul transformed most completely with its use in the script for Romero's 'Night of the Living Dead'. Wherein the now-zombies, were instead called Ghouls.
The cultural influence of the film and its follow-ups, I think, cemented the use of 'Ghoul' to mean "cadaver-eating monster".
Correct! Most english dictionaries, including OED, continue the idea of Ghouls having an affinity for cemetaries. An attribute not found in primary Arabic folklore.
Ghouls in modern thought often conjure images akin to zombies, leaning heavily on the flesh-eating, rather than their Djinn origin
Update on Ghouls ๐๏ธ
Up until this point I had been convinced that the Ghoul entered western thought with Antoine Galland (1710's~), and lived a relatively non-critical existence.
However, a US source from the 1920's tells of the ghoul following the Arabic original, rather than Galland's fiction...

Gaming pals I need your help!
As part of a history project, I need examples of "Ghouls" in video games. Like this lil' fella. A quintessential video gamey ghoul!
Do you have any examples?
Creatures, nameplates, mentions in cutscenes, hell even if its a text adventure in all caps.
Repost please!
The book is credited with being the first mainstream publication bringing to light what actually happened during King Leopold's reign of slavery and exploitation.
Subsequently allowing others to further expand our knowledge on the subject.
