But most of all, I’m really grateful to everyone who stopped by to give feedback on my poster. I’m excited to take these reflections forward (and ending with a fab quote from Frances Howard!) 💬 #BERA2025 (4/4)

Also loved Thomas Walsh’s talk on Ireland’s primary curriculum redevelopment (20+ years in the making!) and how it foregrounded young people’s voices — resonating with Dominic Wyse’s seminal work on children’s agency in the English curriculum. #BERA2025 (3/4)
Highlights included: Karen Fox + 23 Year 7 students’ phenomenal workshop showcasing a child-centred, collaborative approach. Incredible to learn this was the first time children presented their own research at a national conference on this scale 👏 #BERA2025 (2/4)
Had a brilliant few days at #BERA2025! It was my first time presenting my doctoral research at a national conference, and I was really honoured that my abstract was one of the few selected for a physical display. You can view it here: tinyurl.com/beraposter (1/4)
New report on understanding the drivers of declining youth mental health
To effectively respond to worsening mental health, we need to understand not just what is happening, but *why*
We used an evidence-based approach to unpack common explanations

Thank you!
Thank you Janet!
Honoured to receive the CSWIR Emerging Researcher Award for my poster, selected for potential impact & alignment with CSWIR’s vision. Grateful to be chosen from a strong cross-faculty group. It was inspiring to meet so many lovely people. Congratulations to all the other winners! @cswir.bsky.social
Fascinating new research from @tamsinford.bsky.social & colleagues which shows that CYP with psychiatric disorders now face more severe difficulties & functional impacts than in past surveys, "challenging the idea that ^ prevalence stems from over-medicalising mild symptoms" doi.org/10.1111/jcpp...
Thanks so much Zoe! Yes I am following them ☺️ Might try and chat with you in the new year once I’ve got a clearer plan!
Hi Michelle, lovely to see another person from Sussex here!
RESEARCHERS & PRACTITIONERS IN SCHOOL MENTAL HEALTH 🏫📚🧠
to complement the lovely general C&A MH lists from @noraskjerdingstad.bsky.social (go.bsky.app/mJXZrD) & @olademk.bsky.social (go.bsky.app/KSGUBYg)
Hoping this will be primarily crowd-sourced, so please tell me who to add: go.bsky.app/5EXucz1
Brilliant evening listening to @lucyfoulkes.bsky.social discuss the value of listening to adolescents: Their youth doesn’t lessen their worth; they’re experts in their own lives. Engaging with them makes our work more relevant and impactful ⭐️
It’s been sad to witness the slow demise of X after joining in 2015 as a college student & now reflecting in 2024 as a PhD student. I’ve effectively grown up online 😅 I’m so grateful for the opportunities & connections I’ve made over the years & hope we can build an even better community here ⛅️
Started another starter pack I wanted to find but couldn't - for people & orgs involved in, supporting & advocating for children & YP's #Participation #YouthVoice & #ChildrensRights.
If I've missed one, you want to be added or have suggestions for additions please let me know:

This starter pack for child and adolescent mental health is continuing to grow! It’s wonderful finding people here.
Please do let me know if you think there is someone (including you!) that could be added.

Thank you! My cover photo is from www.nationaltrust.org.uk/visit/sussex..., one of my favourite places to visit in the autumn! 🍂
Hi Zoe, I just wanted to say hi! I'm a new PhD student exploring primary school pupils' perceptions and experiences of mental health education. I'm keen to get to know others who are looking at similar things in different institutions, so I've bookmarked WISDOM; it sounds fantastic!
Mornin’! Been lurking in the background for a while and thought it was about time that I posted! Quick intro. I am passionate about improving young people’s mental health, and am setting up a mental health research network in schools across England (wisdom.mhid.org.uk). Happy to hear about you all!
