Much as I like his work on Hellboy, I love this period of Mignola's art.

It is Dean! It was fantastic to actually meet a comic artist for the 1st time, and for that comic artist to be Neal Adams of all people! And Adams at the height of his powers, having just drawn Superman Vs. Muhammed Ali the year before.I was 15 at the time, still one of the best moments of my life!

Fantastic story with great art by Paul Smith. Read and re-read it many times. One my favourites. Although DC published it as an Elseworlds series due to its dark tone, I've always considered it canon, my head.

Bought that annual on release, great collection of Adams/Palmer X-Men stories. Hardcover annuals and similar publications like this were such a staple of the UK comic scene when we were young. Completely extinct now, like those great summer specials they use to publish.

Part of a great 3 part story. Love that era of Miller's DD stories when it a gritty crime book. Then suddenly, few issues later all these bloody ninjas starting showing up! Little did I know that he had discovered the japanese Lone Wolf and Cub series. Still loved the art but the stories, not so much.

๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚ Lol! Good point! I was too busy going bananas at the time to care, Saints loud and proud! ๐Ÿ˜ Funny you should say that, my friend who I was watching it with is Pompey born and bred but still likes to see Saints do well, not something she can say out loud to some of her Pompey friends! ๐Ÿ˜œ

Great write up as usual. I was watching the game over near Port Solent with a friend of mine who is a Spurs fan, who loved the result as you can imagine. When Stewart scored that 1st goal you could have heard me scream all the way back in Southampton! ๐Ÿ˜, same for the 2nd & the final whistle. UT'76S!

Takes me back, bought this issue as a kid on release. Sold long ago along with others from the series, pre internet. (Not sure what happened to the mask ๐Ÿ˜Š) It was a big deal at the time, 1st time original material was created especially for a Marvel UK comic, albeit in the US, and printed in colour.

Yes it was so iconoclastic. Very Gerber.

The 1st few issues of Omega written by Steve Gerber and Mary Skrenes were really strange but interesting comics. Would never get published by Marvel today. Looks like they were trying to course correct and and make it a standard super hero book with this issue.

VERY rare. Brian grew up on Silver Age DCs and developed a real love for the characters and artists, hence his long association with the company. Never had that connection with Marvel, hence his seemingly life long aversion to drawing for Marvel ๐Ÿ˜Š

Great story and art by Englehart and Sal B. (Not so great inking by Vinnie, as per usual ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿฝโ€โ™‚๏ธ). Part of the excellent 'Cap Quits' storyline. Englehart and Buscema's lengthy stint on Captain America was superb.
