I think the old shows felt "more American" but since the 90's i suppose they had one eye on the global market for these shows.

How about "House" and "The Good Wife"? Both have bi characters and i suppose their sexuality isn't their defining feature. Both shows around 15 years old. Oh and more recently "The Good Place".

Not much British-wise, "Extraordinary" was very silly.
