The quad at @sydney.edu.au looking mighty fine this morning #USYD

Yeh possibly it was, I will need to process properly and check. Tend to find that the biggest crystals aren't always the cleanest collections, but damn they look nice

Always nice when the vial has crystals that look like this! #MOF #crystal

Gorgeous crystals! What is your preferred method of crystallising such MOFs? Solvothermals reactions?

Advanced data visualization in Typst − Lilaq Advanced data visualization in Typst

I can really see the benefits, and having live data or just pointing to a new CSV or JSON file that automatically replots with your specified colour theme and styles etc. is very nice (plus the text font can match the document font perfectly!). lilaq.org is what I've been playing around with :)

Thank you @robp.bsky.social and @curiouscoding.nl that's great - I'll give it a crack! I just finished my whole PhD thesis in Latex but am liking what I see with typst (I especially love the thought of generating graphs within the document using the lilaq package, and having consistent styling!)

Completely out of my field so can't comment on the preprint, but do like the formatting which if I read correctly you did using typst! Any chance you could share the template / customisations you did, i would like to try writing my current paper in typst

Nothing better than checking the oven and seeing a vial full of sparkling crystals! #MOFs

I will take another look tomorrow - definitely could be something like that. The MOF has a ligand in it that has a central fused ring that is sometimes disordered across a few positions, will report back!

Ah I actually don't know what the disorder is, didn't really know how to extract anything meaningful from the data (nor do I know how I would go about getting a 3D-dPDF!). I think when counted there were like 27 reflections of that supercell, which seemed to be a doubling of a/b if I remember well.

Good tip! I'll play around with that tomorrow - didn't know that :)

Also @stecanossa.bsky.social I think you will prefer these ones I reconstructed from some synchrotron data - bonus points if you can guess the space group :) Check out the weak commensurate modulation #diffractionpattern #BraggYourPattern

Definitely some weak evidence of diffuse scattering! But my collection strategy was certainly not aimed at full reconstructions so missing a fair bit of info.

Maybe you actually can advise on how to get the best reconstructions from my data generally? Any tips for CrysalisPro or other?

Well the crystals do almost look like the cartoon of the triclinic crystal system so it was a good double guess. Always a happy day when you check your reaction and can visibly see the whole vial being sparkly!

Bingo - it was indeed trigonal (although you did double the chances of you being correct)!

Yeh I guess #MOF crystals look pretty cool under the SEM
