UGH this is bullshit. I feel like GPS apps are a ripe space for somebody to build something really really cool (I say that knowing nothing about GPS). Like why can't Apple or Google be smater and always take me to intersections with lights in Portland because there's no way I can cut across traffic

Folks I think we fucked up going all in on Slack, let’s do anything else. I can’t handle the 80+ channels that ALL need my attention. There’s no way this is productive.

In the next year I look forward to thought leaders posting “I write all my code by hand” like they’re a hipster buying vinyl

Aerial view of a midwestern city on a clear winter day, showing a wide open park with dormant grass and bare trees in the foreground, a two-lane road cutting through the center, and a mid-century modern office building in the middle distance surrounded by low-rise urban development.

View from an elevated rooftop or upper-floor restaurant looking out through floor-to-ceiling glass panels toward a wide river, a highway bridge, and an industrial skyline at golden hour. Dark wood patio tables and chairs are silhouetted in the foreground.

Returning to Headspace after years, wow it’s pretty awful now. Incredibly difficult to just find a quick guided meditation. What’s a good meditation app these days?

Software orgs embracing AI tools have demonstrated something I've been saying for a very long time: you can't iterate from bad software to good software.

It's *physically* possible, but the context of the work prevents it. Instead of refining the product, managers demand more new feature releases.

Chaz Moore Designer and coder in Portland. Previously Universe, Shopify, Squarespace. Now at Owner.

Moved my website to Cloudflare from Squarespace and bought a cheaper domain, saving myself $249 a year. Excited to code out my own site in Astro and create some really fun interactions!

Honestly I'm often not. But giving in to despair is also making an assumption about the future and I'd rather be wrong about hope than right about giving up.

Also love. Love for my cats. Love for my partner. Love for my community. I think that can be really powerful.

As a product designer this year is already wild, I can’t imagine what my role will look like by the end of the year. I’m mostly in code now. My Figma files are pretty empty, just sketching concepts or using Make to prototype for stakeholder alignment.

it finally got cold here and I had to promise myself not to work from bed otherwise I'd be too cozy and cuddly with the kitties and not design

It's wild to me how many folks are still actively using it when its a complete garbage experience on top of all the heinous shit

Being curious and having good boundaries to respect your own values is the best approach all around I think <3

Radical Candor has never sat right with me, some of the problems I have with it are:
- It overestimates psychological safety
- Used as an excuse for being harsh
- Ignores cultural and personality differences
- Privileges the speaker over the receiver (my biggest issue)

I feel so seen by Alison Rand's Radical Humanity approach, emphasizing empathy and respect rather than blunt honesty
