Seems like a winner to me!

I think it loaded the very first time, but then I tried to loop it and it died. Then I deleted the tab and reloaded it fresh and it still died. So it dies on launch and won’t let me hit the low memory button. 15 has 6 GB of RAM so maybe I can use this as an excuse to upgrade, haha.
The .005 AzShear may or may not be .005, because the Rotation Tracks (which are what it helps create) should be .005 as well but they seem to be same res as reflectivity. Hmm. Might be getting dumbed down somewhere in the processing chain. I will need to check on this tomorrow.
Also, for a datapoint on what devices it works on, it kind of croaks on my iPhone 15+.
I’d be curious to see if it can load any of the .005 degree resolution products like mergedAzShear (4x the memory footprint). Also, I request MESH (the non-track version) if you are taking requests!
This is pretty cool! So you’re running the full resolution of the entire domain for every frame in the loop? Or is there some kind of internal tiling going on? That runs shockingly well if it’s the entire grid.
I'd like to introduce you all to a personal project I've been working on recently. It's called Heimdall, and it's an MRMS + ProbSevere situational awareness monitor for CONUS scale severe weather. It's got roaming, alerts, archive mode, and is fully client side.

I’m shocked that anyone still is over there, honestly.
GEMPAK, McIDAS and NCL have always been “favorites.” (I’m just a guy who generates netCDF files that someone decided to convert to GRIB to be useful, so what do I know? 😀 )
‘Twas a poor attempt in a joke, referencing another meteorological plotting package from the 1980s.
(that was the other meteorological graphics package I remember using in 1990)
Have they upgraded to NCAR Graphics?
An accumulation (sum)? Or just the max that happened in the time period? Not an official MRMS product that is operational, and I don’t think that there is one running on the experimental system either. However, the software is capable of producing that pretty easily .
It’s also interesting that the MAPS4 stadium was advertised as 15K+ during the last vote on it (so USL Premier / Division 1 eligible) but now they are only saying 10K.
It will be interesting to see how the 2028 OKC USL re-launch with the new stadium will play out in light of all this. This is a good read that summarizes some of the issues.
The date also corresponds to the opening of the new OKC stadium. www.okcforsoccer.com/news/2026/01...
The OKC Energy gets a mention as being a possible USL Premier (Div 1) team when the league kicks off in 2028. “There is an expectation around the league that OKC Energy will enter the USL Premier as an expansion franchise.” - 12-team league to start off, expanding to 20, with promotion/relegation.
It’s going to be a very interesting weather weekend in OKC.
We need NWS Norman and other local officers on here. The feed here is like Twitter when it first came out and was actually useful — in order and in real time. Please take a couple of minutes and fill out the survey by Monday! #okwx
Love me some winter weather forecasting uncertainty. 😬
NWS update for the weekend.
Oh goody. #okwx
21 point comeback against the Grizzlies on the road beats the Thunder’s previous biggest comeback of the year, which was a 19 point comeback on the road against the Grizzlies.
Well that was an fun SGA/Chet-less comeback for the OKC Thunder. Also, this win probability stat is kinda dumb.
It’s a Stranger Things OKC Thunder pre-game.
Since SPC isn’t on BlueSky yet, I’ll share these fun “Wrapped”-style graphics here. Here’s a look back at SPC product issuances in 2025. Stay tuned for a more thorough review of the severe storm season coming in the new year.
The first time I saw this list a few years ago I was shocked that oil/gas has such a small representation, but also pleasantly surprised at the variety. And it gets better all the time: OKC never really had a tourism industry in my lifetime and this is also a thing, now.
At what point will OKC step out and stop allowing it to be defined by Oklahoma?
