From eBook 2, this is a Taxi Tree, a tower with a canopy of solar panels that charge electric, autonomous pod-car taxis. When requested taxi is lowered for use, its nano-paint changes colour from forest green to bright yellow and 3 wheels emerge from the chassis.
In eBook 2, Alex falls ill and begins changing from an Earthly boy into a hybrid, part Martian, “Earthian”. His strange Martian abilities grow more powerful as a result.
The two unlikely heroes of the series, Legs, the quirky scavenger-bot and Big Ben, the lumbering and unstoppable construction-bot. I drew upon my knowledge of mechanical design and hydraulics when illustrating and describing these two characters who help Alex in ways both big and small, and even save his life on more than one occasion.
