Joined the #GanderSocial expanded Beta, and while it's neat to have a Canadian Social Media platform, I'm a little disappointed that it so far just seems like another X/Bluesky/Threads. I was hoping for more of a Facebook style replacement, if I'm being honest.

So I have been hanging out over on @gandersocial.bsky.social today after receiving an invite for beta testing.

Early thoughts: Love the “bias-checker” - note the labels on the attached image. Love larger photo format. Love more room for text. Love Canadian content. #gandersocial #cdnpoli

Gander social has actually been pretty fun to be one.

Early stages but a good experiment to see how appviews work.

#Canada’s alternative to US led #socialmedia is #GanderSocial. It is crowd sourced funded, met its goals quickly with a Canadian’s investing.

Arlene Dickson and Amber Mac Have withdrawn affiliation with Gander Social.

Inside to open early 2026‼️❤️🇨🇦

Regardless of what the loss of Arlene and Amber means for Gander (and it is speculation at this point) the important thing is that Gander will hopefully break our dependence on Facebook, X, perhaps even Blue Sky. It is important not to read too much into this development.
