Grind culture tells gifted students their worth depends on how busy they are. In reality, it robs them of the school experience itself.

I am so excited to have the preliminary schedule for the 2025 World Conference launched! This was a huge undertaking with so many great sessions. It was really challenging to match them together and slot them into times.

Screenshot of a Facebook post I made:

Ask for a 6 week trial enrollment in AP Chem. If your child is earning a C- or lower in the class by that time, you will agree to having them bumped down to Honors Chem.

It is always easier to bump down and then catch up in the slower paced class on content they didn't get the first go around than to bump up and have to do double time work to catch up on content that they have to self instruct. It also avoids the argument that anyone earning an A in the Honors class should be eligible to also bump up to AP.

How to advocate for skipping a low level HS class and jumping straight into AP level: Use the 6-wk trial period tactic. Worse case scenario school gets to gloat and say "I told you so" ... but I've never seen that happen because the kiddos always thrive.
