CONTEXT: for this prompt, I chose this poem where oscar speaks of lovers who basically "love like us, but part like we’re fated to". i see it as a doomed but unregretful love. in this piece merlin and gwaine are caught in a quiet moment that feels timeless, but there’s a softness here that carries weight because they know it won’t last. the poem speaks of love blooming like spring, only to wither under truth and time. that’s merlin and gwaine: two souls who found something real in a world that won’t let it live. still, like the poem says, “I am not sorry that I loved you". they're both not sorry for loving eachother in this short, doomed times. This is that love: fleeting, fragile, but true.

END ID. CONTEXT: for this prompt, I chose the song provider by sleep token, especially the lyric: “do I wanna go there? yes I do. I wanna do more than just bend the rules.” I'm very indecisive, so I decided to use this song as a starting point, but leave the other songs that were playing in my head available in the post. like a mini playlist! I based this piece on an au/headcanon I’ve been talking about with some friends where merlin flees camelot (maybe his magic is discovered, or maybe he’s simply had enough), and of course gwaine goes with him. the world is crumbling around them, they are probably being followed, but this is a romantic moment because this moment is theirs. this is when it finally clicks for merlin gwaine has always been doing everything for him not only because gwaine values justice and out of principle, but because gwaine is in love with him. and he is in love with gwaine. gwaine is always bending the rules for merlin, camelot's rules, his own rules and morals, and he wants to show merlin he does this because he wants more than just to help merlin. the "there" when merlin asks "do you wanna go there?" means "loving merlin", it means to leave everything behind, to choose love over duty, to choose eachother. merlin is asking gwaine if he wants to leave it all behind for love and if he's sure of it, and gwaine is saying yes. he answers "yes I do. I wanna do more than just bend the rules", it's like he's answering "i choose you, doesn't matter what or where or when, i'll be with you because i want you." so they're happy because they have eachother in this moment chaos.
