Rare funeral pyre discovered at Sizewell C The remains of a funeral pyre (site of a cremation) were recently discovered at our Goose Hill site, within the Sizewell C archaeological works.

Pyres like this don't often survive this long. From intricate excavation to strategic sampling, the #OCAArchTeam are making sure to gather as much evidence as possible to learn more about the pyre: tr.ee/OCA-Pyre

The #OCAArchTeam working down at Sizewell C have revealed what is potentially a prehistoric funeral pyre, providing a remarkable glimpse into the life - and death - of Suffolk's early inhabitants.

From kilns & corn dryers, to trade routes from France, the finds & features excavated by the #OCAArchTeam are building a picture of a bustling Roman society.
