Vanquish is prepared. Catches him playfully with one of Caiphon’s tentacles, pulling him to his back. But he’s right. She’s messy, and fucks it up, hitting the ground face first and laughter.  Then he laughs too. Wrinkles as he smiles, warping the tattoos on his face, baring his fangs. “I think I like you, sh’k’nal.” “About time.”

Vanquish enjoys sparring with both Voss and Orpheus. Especially since they both vastly out skill her in hand to hand and they don't hold back.

Tonight is one of those times where he slips in her side door, entering the code under an early morning sky still dark, cloudy, the shattered moon's pieces illuminated by the prospect of the impending sun. But also the Tear above, a forever blaring guide light and reminder. Tucks his bike against the wall as the door behind snaps shut and he hears the several connected locks click. Quiet, he ascends the stairs, used to the low lights of her private areas, and the squeak of her old stairs. She'd left the TV on again, her bedroom door slightly ajar (can see her heavy tail hanging off the end of the bed, its tip touching the floor). Some channel that showed old movies on repeat. Glances at the screen as he sees the glimpse of a pre-arrival movie. No githyanki. No Dolls. No chaos in the skies just stars and serenity. What strangeness. A world that never existed for her either, a creature born because of the Arrival.

His fingers skimmed over the ripples she'd made as she hit the water. Closed his eyes as they lapped against his face, reached his eyes. "We conceived this ceremony long before some of you istik races even existed," he'd said, simple, circling a shape on the water. Her hands stopped. Voss turned. Hair liquid amethyst around her, on her. Like she was made of it. "We cared, once." Still circled the water with his finger. "About each other." Paused. "Others." Dipped back her head onto his chest. Heard his hearts beat a little too fast. Just a whisper, "some of you still do."

Been thinking a lot about Van's canon at the end of BG3 getting the hammer lately and then when she has it and the tension rising between her and Voss and how she can almost feel Orpheus in her skin from his rage that he's still /waiting/ and she has the key to his freedom between her hands, and also /Voss/. Voss' patience is short, and the longer she drags out not freeing Orpheus, there's more cruelty and desperation. But it just /feeds/ into her, and the more Voss learns about her, the more it feeds into him. Damaged fucked up little thing doing what he wants. But also what /she/ wants. And when did he start thinking about her outside of the concept of something to use. That line way crossed. Long time for acceptance for it tho.

Everyone's riding on adrenaline for days. Tenday(s)? From Hammer gain to post Orpheus' freedom. Vanquish is just shaking. Hasn't slept. Every inch of her body aching when she turns up at the githyanki camp to say goodbye. She wants to hurt more until she can't hurt anymore. Voss obliges. Smothering himself in her scent her blood. Sucking in her taste so it sticks between his teeth and there's nothing left for anyone else.
