Was there complacency in the belief that "of course, Remain will win"? Going back a little further into the past, would a different outcome to #AVRef2011 have led to a different make-up of the Commons in #GE2015?

These were all individual and collective choices that weren't done to the UK. 8/9

The Tories promised it locally at #GE2015, the MP who won the seat joined Cabinet (& was briefly Transport Sec) but progress was slow & foot dragging until it was put on hold under Sunak & cancelled by Starmer.

Was it a campaign tool rather than a serious plan?

Scared Gideon & Cameron so much in 2014 that they ran #ProjectFear, did it again with him as coalition bogeyman #GE2015, then tryptich they called the #Brexit referendum in 2016

But then there was after #GE2010 the #ConDemCoaliton, the start of 14 years of Cons govt, a majority at #GE2015, minority govt #GE2017, a large majority at #GE2019.

For a century now there has been the on and off assertion that new generations coming in and ageing will see the end of the party.
