Oh wow, recordings of last week's @pkp.sfu.ca 's OMP Fest 2026 already available online! 😀
Really inspiring to hear about the many uses of #OpenMonographsPress by presses & initiatives, and we also presented on the OMP-Thoth plugin with Lepidus Tecnologia and UJ Press #MetadataMatters #OAbooks
There's still time to pop by the Copim Community stand at #UKSG2026 and have a chat about #OABooks and #OpenInfrastructure
Alright, today is the day ... in a bit more than 2 hours, at noon (GMT) today, we will be pushing the button to initiate that long-awaited release of Thoth 1.0! *giddy*

Excellent talk by @tmorley24.bsky.social on #OAbooks and Lancaster's advocacy strategy. Includes mention of the N8 Statement on Sustainable Scholarly Publishing: www.n8research.org.uk/what-we-do/r...
#UKSG2026

Really moving tribute from Andrew Barker to Elaine Sykes at #UKSG2026. I still find myself thinking, when planning something new related to #OAbooks, "Elaine needs to be involved in this", even though I know she can't be. She's so missed even by people like me who didn't know her well. What a star.
All the seasons in one day can't dampen our spirits!
The team are nearly all in Glasgow for #UKSG2026 and look forward to chatting to everyone about #OABooks #Community #Publishing #Infrastructure on stand no. 66 tomorrow!
Out of office on - I'll be heading to #Glasgow for #UKSG2026 shortly 🚆
Find me on @copim.bsky.social stand [no 66] and we can chat #OABooks #OpenInfrastructure
Plus @jisc.bsky.social #DigitalResearchCommunity & #OPERASUK @operaseu.bsky.social
Excellent Friday read here via #OLH - which strongly resonates with the collective stance held within @copim.bsky.social and beyond on why we believe there can't be no real #openaccess without truly non-profit and community-led #openinfrastructure

I'm representing Stockholm University and the Swedish Node for Diamond Open Access in this new and promising project. I'm looking forward to contributing, especially to developing more tools for #OAbooks . #DiamondOA
Another key insight from Mandy Taha, #DOAB Ambassador in Egypt:
Advancing #OpenAccess in the MENA region isn’t only about funding—it’s about shifting perceptions around quality, prestige, and trust.
Changing the narrative is part of the work.

Great thread 🧵 (as ever) from @emmabooth.bsky.social about an #RLUK26 session yesterday on #OAbooks that featured Geoffrey Khan, editor of the Cambridge Semitic Languages and Cultures series, which we're proud to publish: www.openbookpublishers.com/series/2632-...
We can't and we don't want to! If you share our values and aims, and might want to collaborate with us in future, join the Copim listserv to stay in touch with us post-project:

Luckily the sessions are being recorded for catch-up later 👍
I've joined the #openaccess for #longform scholarship session with Dave Jago, Geoffrey Khan, & Rosie Higman - there's been a mention of @copim.bsky.social already! 👏

Awareness is only the first step.
Through events, networks, and ongoing engagement, Mandy Taha points to a key challenge: turning visibility into real uptake of #OAbooks while maintaining quality, metadata and discoverability.
How are you approaching this?

RLUK CSN's OA Monographs Group (of which I am a member) have put these Shared Principles together after consultation with RLUK member libraries about in-house strategies for supporting Diamond OA monograph schemes - I was happy to contribute @uomlibrary.bsky.social's perspective #OABooks #DiamondOA
We're delighted to be a partner on this project aimed at strengthening #DiamondOA for #OABooks 💎📚
"Promoting scholar-led publishing is one form of this collective resistance—an effort to build publishing models that prioritise the common good and make knowledge as widely accessible as possible. Libraries have an important role to play as changemakers in this transition to open access"

"Meeting colleagues in person for the first time and making new connections highlighted just how integral mutual enthusiasm, sharing experiences and viewpoints and open discussion is for the [open research] landscape moving forward."
