Here in the U.S., we're constantly talking about the importance of representation within the media for marginalized communities. There have been many big conversations over the years #OscarsSoWhite #DisabilityTooWhite #NotYourMascot #NotYourStereotype #NotYourTonto #NotYourTigerlily, etc.
Her character was something and she was good but this felt like another Jamie Lee Curtis / Michelle Yeoh whitewash.
That’s an #OscarsSoWhite issue.
Nevermind #OscarsSoWhite - a legitimate criticism this year's Academy voters actively exemplified through their choices - snubbing #Sinners in this way warrants #OscarsSoShite at the bare minimum, and that is exacerbated rather than improved by the well earned awards actually granted #Sinners.
