Oh hey I just realized Artemis II is probably going to be the fastest crewed flyby around Earth.
The Translunar Injection Burn is when Artemis II will fire its engines to leave Earth orbit and head into deep space. This is the first time humans have done this since 1972. It’s scheduled for 7:49 PM ET. www.nasa.gov/blogs/missio...
Right now, the astronauts must be thinking:
"The Earth is getting awfully big in the window."
Artemis II is dropping toward perigee for the TLI burn that will send it to the Moon.🔭 #astro
The phrase "women are from Venus, men are from Mars" implies that the binary genders are not native to Earth. In this essay I will . . .
A view from NASA’s Orion spacecraft as it orbits above Earth during Day 1 of the Artemis II test flight. Taken from an initial highly ellipitical orbit at around 70 300 km from Earth.

✅ #Artemis II update: nearing end of Flight Day 1, the Orion spacecraft is moving at 10 192 km/h, 38 904 km from Earth and 392 774 km from the Moon.

DISGUSTING!
"The richest 0.1% of people on Earth are hiding more than $2.8 trillion in offshore accounts to avoid taxes. That money alone is more wealth than is owned by the entire bottom half of humanity, more than 4.1 billion people."

The only big cat that kills by crushing the skull. Not the throat. The skull.
Jaguars have the strongest bite of any cat on Earth, powerful enough to pierce turtle shells and take down caimans twice their size.
And somehow, the cubs are this cute.

They're going to be the elite of the countries not doing the extracting, as it is here on Earth.

They really fucking love a glossy lil’ profile of the worst people on Earth
Reminder that the moon that orbits the Earth has a name in English and that name is the Moon. There are lots of nicknames and names in other languages (Luna, for instance) but technically in English it is just the Moon. The concept of a moon is uncapitalized; our moon is the Moon.
Artemis II: Mission Management Team has given the go for the Trans-Lunar Injection (TLI) burn at 7:49 pm EDT (6:49 pm Central). Crew will leave Earth orbit and head on out to lunar distance.
"Artemis II crew captured a stunning image of Earth this morning from 41,000 miles away..."
One-way tickets for the Epstein list! I’m talkin’ duct tape, surplus rockets, and a dream. No seatbelts, just G-force and the cold vacuum of the moon. If you’re on the list, you’re evicted from Earth. Enjoy the view of everything you ruined while your oxygen runs out. Chimichangas on me!
Artemis II just reached the official "We choose to go to the Moon" point of the mission--they will proceed with the burn that will send them around the Moon and back to Earth at 7:49 p.m. EDT.

The red string of fate tugged far into the stars and on the other side taunting, drifting down onto an Earth far too familiar.

The Artemis II will do the lunar burn, the thing that will put them on the path to the moon (currently they are in a long elliptical orbit around Earth) at 6:49pm CT, if all things go to plan.

Can activity on the Sun trigger earthquakes on Earth? A new scientific model suggests that solar storms may influence fault lines through changes in the ionosphere, potentially nudging already unstable regions of the Earth’s crust toward seismic activity.

Artemis II isn’t just setting the absolute altitude record for when they fly over the far side of the Moon in a few days, they’ve also set the altitude record for Earth-orbit.
There actually was a planned “high-Earth orbit” Apollo mission but it was cancelled in favor of Apollo 8 going circumlunar.
