I’ve often tried to figure out at what point Israel’s response to 10/07 crossed the line from reasonable to overkill.
I’d say it was perhaps 6-8 months in or so that “rescuing the hostages” was clearly no longer a priority?

Two things stand out from Trump’s posts this AM:
• Trump referring to the Strait of Hormuz as the “Strait of Iran,” which reflects how the ground has shifted in Iran’s favor as a result of this war.
• Trump saying Israel is “prohibited” from bombing Lebanon, which constitutes a test for Netanyahu.
The Strait of Hormuz was open before Trump attacked. Netanyahu bamboozled him into thinking the regime would collapse so fast they wouldn't have time to close the strait. He's trying to spin a partial reopening as a great strategic victory when he's just cleaning up the mess he made.

Peace is much more affordable and less deadly than a war or blockade of a strait that is already mostly closed.
Trump and Netanyahu caused this mess, so they deserve nothing of merit for how it ends.
