This one has a unique vibe because it is indeed a relatively high turnout election (by current early vote offset standards) but the ballot (on our side of 4 mile run) is so short that there's usually hardly anyone in the voting booths. So it doesn't feel nearly as busy. But also not as slack.

it's very funny because color film I demand basically perfection. massive negatives, perfect scans, low grain. black and white film I'm like actually fuck it up as much as possible, I want to look like my christmas vacation was shot on a spy camera where they killed the spy at the end of the roll

so for whatever reason, I got a roll of Delta 3200 that physically swelled. the film was just too thick. (moisture maybe?) so rewinding it was super difficult, and dev'ing it was super difficult, and it got scratched to hell. luckily, it still came out cool as shit.

You can cleanly pinpoint the advent of 'modern warfare' as the moment when medical science and state capacity improved to the point that an army could keep most of its soldiers from shitting themselves to death before they've even seen the enemy.

- pollworkers in Arlington can't receive 'goodies' fm their host facility or the general public. (We can bring our own stuff of course, or order stuff on our own dime, or have friends and family drop off stuff. But the donut delivery as you describe probably isn't allowed here)

Just FYI fwiw, don't know what the rules are in Alexandria, but in Arlington, because a few years ago there was a wide variation in what polling site host facilities were providing to pollworkers - and apparently some were really over the top -

If Iran wanted to do a *legal* blockade, they could station their navy off the coast of Israel and the USA and interdict ships there.

And you may say, "these rules favor countries with big navies" and...yes. The United States and Britain wrote them quite intentionally that way.

Disney made the movie Frozen so when you googled "Walt Disney frozen", it would show results for the movie instead of the urban legend that Walt Disney cryogenically froze his head

Trump got shot *at* but the thing that made his ear bleed was a piece of teleprompter glass. He never admitted this in part because he still sometimes claims never to use a teleprompter.
