Gosh, the Petrushka work in progress was good, but the new dance by Noelle Kayser—a young choreographic fellow at Ballet X—“Scales on the Wings of a Butterly,” to a score by Jeff Kolar, a was just breathtaking. We all gasped when the curtain opened, and it got a standing ovation.

✨🌱Poster for the 2025 Plantasia show at the Garfield Park Conservatory in Chicago🌱✨

9 months ago 25 2 1 0
This image is a vibrant, psychedelic-style promotional poster for an event called Plantasia, organized by Sacred Bones and Garfield Park Conservatory. The background is a bright grassy green, with a surreal, fantasy-like illustration in the center: a large, blooming flower with pink, red, and magenta petals. Instead of a natural center, the flower sprouts an ornate, futuristic golden structure with green gem-like orbs—giving the sense of a mix between organic life and a sci-fi device.

Above the flower, the word “PLANTASIA” is written in large, bold, warped yellow lettering in a retro, 1970s-style font. Encircling it is small text reading: “Sacred Bones & Garfield Park Conservatory Present” in a delicate typeface.

Below the flower, the poster lists featured performers in white, capitalized text. These include:
	•	Suzanne Ciani
	•	Arooj Aftab
	•	Tim Hecker
	•	Windy & Carl
	•	John Carroll Kirby
	•	Kara Lis Coverdale
	•	Voice Actor
	•	Don Slepian
	•	African-American Sound Recordings
	•	Jill Fraser
	•	Nosedrip
	•	Romeo Poirier
	•	Jeff Kolar
	•	Zander Raymond

At the bottom, the event’s date and location are given in yellow and white lettering:
September 14–15, 2025
Garfield Park Conservatory

The visual tone is dreamy, otherworldly, and distinctly “ambient” in aesthetic—matching the ambientmusic theme from the Reddit community where it was shared.

Jeff Kolar (b. Chicago) is a composer, sound artist, and curator. His work, described as “wonderfully strange” (John Corbett) and “characteristically curious” (Marc Weidenbaum), activates sound in unconventional, temporary, and ephemeral ways using appropriation and remix as a critical practice.
