Having recently sat in a meeting with a medium sized UK exporter discussing their EU options & how to keep their customers satisfied I thought after 47 years in logistics I never thought any serious Uk gov would inflict Brexit on what makes GB great

In the league table of easier trade:
A FTA is surpassed by a customs union with another; surpassed by a single market with another.
UK will never compensate its Brexit losses unless it agrees a customs union inside a single market with another minimum 500m consumers..
20 miles off shore
I have only been consistently warning this above (no SM/CU without the extra ops capacity needed - on same trade throughput - for it) would be the case since 2016 😁...

Type of reporting BBC should be doing, from @philmoorhouse.bsky.social
With caveat: there are now no British Standards for imports(enforcement of UKCA is abandoned, as is SPS control of TCA border); anything goes

So UK travellers are better off being able to behave as SM members while not actually being part of the SM? And EU citizens arriving at our non functioning hard border? Are they flowing through freely as they did when they had FOM into UK? Any difference there?
Unbelievable. I don't understand how the basic premise that leaving the SM is hugely damaging and disruptive is not considered as the base level for every article/report like this.
All true and all forewarned. Now happening. Tragic and reversible but it will take bold politicians and strong leadership. Anyone?!

They didn't write 'Want to be the sick man of Europe again?' on the side of a bus, did they? Would have been more informative than the NHS lie.

As tweeted so many times before, UK now an outsider to EU & every other country in the world...as more turn inwards & more protective ..
EU etc can afford to do without UK goods; but UK cannot even afford to reciprocate its TCA border, never mind start any trade wars.

Episode 6 is now live! We're talking SPS support and what it means for food standards, Nathan Gill's Russia revelations, press pressure on politicians and the plausibility of Hugh Grant for PM! share.transistor.fm/s/d1b12d8f @lizwebster.bsky.social @nick1webb.bsky.social @olifletcher.bsky.social
Are we at the point now where Brexit is just accepted to cause problems in all the areas is was expected to by experts who were rubbished at the time of the vote? The economy, immigration, NI, British freedom (gone) in Europe- all now worse permanently because we left the SM. Who's going to fix it?
Ep 5 is out now wherever you get your podcasts! It's meaty and juicy but not lab grown, which is how we like our beef...
Is there a huge failure of politicians to communicate their message effectively across the board at the moment?

Ep 4 of our new podcast is out now! Please have a listen if you're interested in keeping high EU food standards in this country rather than the alternative of cheap, dangerous US imports.
Trump, Tice and Farage?
If you need a stat to help explain why we're fighting against a trade deal with the US that would significantly lower our food standards here in the UK...

Episode 3 of The Food Fighters is out now wherever you get your pods!
“Defra has no effective system of oversight for [biosecurity] border controls”, which is “not simply an operational concern but continues to present real threats to the health of UK animals and plants and therefore the viability of our sector”
Sigh!! 🙄

Is PM Starmer using Brexit deregulation and 'Henry VIII' powers to dodge parliamentary scrutiny and force through a US trade deal that will be bad for the health of our nation? It looks that way, and we're campaigning to stop it. @lizwebster.bsky.social @nick1webb.bsky.social ep2 available now!
Ep 2 is out now in all the normal places- please give us a listen, we're trying to stop a dangerous change to our diets that a US trade deal would bring while highlighting the need to return to EU standards before it's too late. We also give both barrels to Farage and the far right.
Farage's self serving tour of the States involved a reality check in Congress, but why didn't the the man who apparently cares so much about grooming gangs mention Epstein? Ep2 is in all the normal places now @lizwebster.bsky.social @nick1webb.bsky.social
