Chelsea 14 Tottenham Hotspur 14. Not a score forecast for May 17 but how many permanent managerial appointments each club has made in the 21st century. Well, "permanent". #COYS

🎶"...that keeps you on the back roads, by the rivers of my memory..."🎶 I'll play one... youtu.be/kboMSfPMLDs On what'd be his 90th: Good/great ol' Glen Campbell, thank you much - that honey'd voice both so rueful and joyful. (Ah, a past tribute here: aidanrad.blogspot.com/2017/08/well...)
Winless in 2026? Well, it was Peanuts 57 years ago today... #COYS
(Terry: "Then it happened. The thing that snapped the final thread of our chance of happiness together."
Bob: "What happened?"
Terry: "What happened? On June 14th, 1970? I'd've thought that date was indelibly printed on every true Englishman’s mind. England 2 West Germany 3, that’s what happened.")
Recommend Andrew Downie's book on the 1970 World Cup, "The Greatest Show On Earth". Bobby Moore, on León: "I for one will not be able to remember those 120 minutes without wanting to thump my fist on the table and ask, 'Why? Why? Why?' And no one will ever be able to give me a satisfactory answer."
Blimey, surely it'd take something big to top Leicester City going down again as most striking relegation story of the season. West Ham? #COYS
Today marks the start of National Stalking Awareness Week 2026.
Our latest report highlights how stalking behaviours escalate and the devastating consequences, including homicide and suicide.

Feel sorry for all Wolves-supporting family and friends on their relegation confirmed tonight, though would also suggest the club give all their first teamers this coming weekend off and field some of their long-suffering fans vs their next opponents instead. Least they could do.
Most welcome Palace draw since Klinsmann's late equaliser in April '95. #COYS
Well, it was 41 years ago today, the first football match attended here, excitedly, at the old WHL: Tottenham Hotspur 2 (Leworthy 64, 90) Ipswich Town 3 (Sunderland 5, Brennan 72, Gates 89pen). We'd won three cups in the previous four years and have since won another four. #COYS
Gabriel headbutt barely mentioned, brushed off, before Rooney offers this analysis on MOTD2: "I want Arsenal to win the league." Good punditry, ta.
If Romero weren't injured he'd be suspended for Gabriel's headbutt. #MCIARS
To quote the late great David Nobbs: "It’s not easy to cope with stress, but one way of dealing with it is to find something else to be stressed about. That goes a long way towards explaining the amazing hold that football has upon a huge section of the public." He of course supported Tottenham.
Fine finish by Mitoma though an assist in the build-up from an ever-lenient ref. Simons' cross for our opener shows again he should start. Muani and Solanke so far apart up top, barely touching the ball. Hopefully better in the second. Players of the match so far: the fans. #COYS
Bilbao song resounding at WHL. The (recent) past is a different country. #COYS
"Have you forgotten? It's Brighton today." Must-win match etc etc... #COYS

RIP, 28 years ago today, Macca's "la-la-la-la-la, the lovely Linda" - this song, closing ITV News that evening, was and remains a choker. "For the rest of my life..." youtu.be/IHHxYl75eu8
Happy 56th birthday today to the very first "McCartney" LP, in all its gladly-ramshackle glory - though here's a shabbily-reimagined take on one of its most runcible tunes (while baby I'm amazed "Maybe I'm Amazed" wasn't released way back then as *the* lead single...)
One Aaron Lennon, there's only one Aaron Lennon. Happy birthday to a thriller of a winger - not only a speed demon on the break, tormenting defences, but also often an unerring finisher whether with left or right foot (often seen and enjoyed vs that red lot and vs that blue lot).
Can you take me back - these two goals, these two minutes. Happy birthday, Aaron Lennon... #COYS youtu.be/EwW2OX3EbXg

People gathering in New Addington supporting the search for a missing mother of three were oblivious to the reality she was already dead and hidden in a nearby garage - and the killer who strangled her remained in their midst. RIP Lisa Pearce. www.dailymail.co.uk/crime-desk/a...

Born 108 years ago today: Finchley Society president, Stephens House statue star and intensely comic genius Spike who lived just down the road. "There is a time to live, a time to die, and a time to laugh, and at no time are the three of them very far apart." youtu.be/TkOAUht3G5o

North London's three clubs've now all won trophies this past year. Tottenham, the Uefa Cup. Barnet, the National League. And now Wingate and Finchley, the Velocity Cup. The North, the North, where we do what we want to etc etc. Congrats to (never felt more like singing) the Blues.
Good luck tonight to the one North London club this season to reach a League Cup final, Wingate and Finchley.
