I am more proud of this flea that I hand-stitched than anything I've done during my PhD.
Ceramic jumping bristletail (Order Archaeognatha/Microcoryphia). They were really common in California but really rare here in Florida.
To be clear I'm still broke which is why I'm still painting gifts LOL
I started painting during Covid because I was broke and wanted to be able to make gifts for people for special occasions. Finished this pretty ambitious piece last week for my friend Ella's baby shower/bday celebration. Fish are hard to paint.
