I find that generally giving people (especially strangers) the benefit of the doubt when it seems like a reasonable assumption is a good way to proceed in life.
Not doing that, and instead assuming people are intentionally evil/bad, is a very judgemental and lonely way to live.

Fellow FSU alums - your help is needed! The University has decided that beginning May 1, student access to the Student Life Cinema will no longer be free and student tickets will now cost $5. This is a very bad decision. Most schools charge for things like on-campus concerts, movies, and athletics tickets. Florida State builds these charges into their fee structure, which democratizes access. Students from low socioeconomic backgrounds can't always afford to go hang out with new friends and build a social foundation while in college. Being able to go to all the FSU Athletics games, shows at club downunder and movies at the Student Life Cinema is the solution to that problem. It's a powerful retention tool!! It is also a powerful differentiator. Over my 15 years working in Admissions, it was something we were proud to brag about to prospective students. If you have any contacts at the University, please use your voice and let them know that this is an extremely bad decision that will negatively impact the university. You can also contact the team at aslc@fsu.edu or via the email address at https://aslc.union.fsu.edu/contacts, so they can pass your concerns on to the University's administration.
