Last night, I was pleased to attend another sold out annual @friendsofmedicare.bsky.social fundraiser demonstrating the value Albertans place in this essential watchdog organization.

As of today, Alberta has the lowest minimum wage in the country. Alberta also has the highest youth unemployment in Canada.

The argument that raising the minimum wage increases youth unemployment is clearly not based in fact.

It's time to raise Alberta's minimum wage. #abpoli #bettertogether

Uninterrupted: YouTube Live with Evan Li and Naheed Nensh YouTube video by Naheed Nenshi

On Monday, Calgary high school student Evan Li tried to raise concerns about education at a town hall hosted by the UCP but the moderator refused to let him speak.

Last night @naheednenshi.bsky.social gave Evan the opportunity to speak that the UCP denied him.

Reminder:

Bruce McAllister doesn’t respect Albertans.

The Premier knows this and is paying him $825,000 to berate citizens in these so-called “town halls.”

We deserve better.

Last night's Better Together Town Hall in Spruce Grove was an incredible success! People shared their hopes & fears about public health & education, community safety, the cost of living & the future of rural Alberta.

Thanks for a great evening, Spruce Grove!

@naheednenshi.bsky.social &I are calling on the UCP to abandon its attempt to steal the $200 a month federal benefit from AISH recipients, drop its plan to replace AISH with a "work for your supports" program, re-index AISH payments to inflation & support accessibility legislation. #abpoli

Recently, the UCP announced that most Albertans will be forced to pay $110 to receive the COVID vaccine starting this fall. Another example of the UCP breaking their promise in the last election that no Albertan would have to pay more for medically necessary services. #BetterIsPossible #abpoli

Alberta ER doc challenges premier to come on shift, see patients wait in hallways EDMONTON - The head of emergency medicine for Alberta's doctors association is challenging Premier Danielle Smith to join him on shift to see the frustration of patients jammed for hours

Albertans have to wait in emergency rooms for hours to receive the care they need. Even the UCP admits that one in ten people leave without ever being seen by anyone. Many of those come back sicker.

We need to do better. #BetterIsPossible #abpoli

Thanks to the UCP's car insurance reforms, a male currently paying $3,000 a year to insure his F-150 will pay $500 more a year over the next two years. In 2027, drivers will lose the right to sue in exchange for a private, no-fault system. And the UCP expects us to be grateful for that. #abpoli

The so-called Alberta Next surveys are nothing more than disinformation and lies. The CPP survey, for example, doesn't even give you the option of saying there are no benefits to an Alberta Pension Plan. UCP: rotten to the core.

Over the last few weeks, I’ve attended several Grade 6, Grade 9 and High School graduations and farewells.

Thanks to our teachers & education workers for another great year. You deserve a government who shows up for you the way you show up for our kids. And I know #BetterIsPossible.

These are the results from the UCP’s own survey.

Albertans do not support leaving the CPP.

It's well past time for the UCP to start listening.

MP Johns introduces Bill C-201, the Mental Health Parity Act YouTube video by Gord Johns

Today I introduced the first PMB of the 45th Parliament. Bill C-201 aims to bring mental health, addictions & substance use services into our universal, public healthcare system. No one should go without the care they need because of out-of-pocket costs.

Here's how: building the South Edmonton Hospital, ending school lottery systems, and tackling rising costs of housing and utilities.

Just made my first investment in my summer reading- a book that tells the story of how Sleepaway Camp-the controversial 1980s slasher film with a cult following-was made.

Now back to the next screening of the Rainbow Visions Film Festival at Metro Cinema!

Last night, the UCP passed a bill that will make it easier to trigger a referendum on separation from Canada.

I hitchhiked across Canada three times before I was 20., once in winter. I love this country. And I will be damned if I let the UCP take it away from me!

Albertans are struggling to make ends meet on the wages they receive. But we now know that the UCP govt spent $10,000 for the Premier to get a selfie with Donald Trump at Mar a Lago. No deal, no jobs and no benefit to Albertans. #ableg #abpoli

Today, I asked the UCP Transportation Minister about the possibility of bus transportation for rural Albertans, including Albertans with disabilities.

He didn't even attempt to answer the question. #abpoli #ableg #ruralAB

My office hears all the time from people living on AISH who are struggling to make ends meet.

The UCP government's decision to claw back the Canada Disability Benefit (CDB) is petty and mean-spirited.
